ST. IGNATIUS - As we age, balance is important for health and safety. Decrease in balance can lead to falls, injuries and reduced independence. One exercise to help improve balance is, while standing at the kitchen sink or counter, stand on one leg using the counter for support, hold for 5-10 seconds then switch legs. Gradually increase the duration. Also, while walking; good posture, and stepping with a “heel to toe” motion, avoid shuffling your feet.
