Food pantry needs cash donations

Editor, It is that time of year again when the overwhelming
generosity of the Town Pump manifests itself in their Matching Gift program. This year, Town Pump has increased its matching gift total to $12,000. For every cash donation made to Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry, the Town Pump will
match it dollar for dollar up to a total gift of $12,000. This program will run from
now until November 30, 2019.  Throughout the year, the pantry receives generous food donations for which we are exceedingly grateful. The constant generosity of the people of
Polson is amazing and appreciated, but in addition to food donations, we need

Forgiveness helps after being triggered

Editor, It occurs to me, with all the things going on in America right now, that we need to practice what my spiritually based social-teachings advocate. It is covered in one word. The word is “forgiveness.” This word can mean different things to different people. This is what it means to me. ...

Cherishing memories

Editor,  Chief Joseph had an impact on my life. He was of the Nez Perce tribe in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States back in the mid 1800s. He spoke out often with great wisdom and vision.    My artist grandfather introduced us kids to Chief Joseph back in the 1930s with ta...

Double spaces make it easier to read

Editor,  Ben Stone’s discussion of the Oxford comma and its history in the Aug .7 issue of the Valley Journal is very interesting. I am a writer and also like history. The use of a comma before “and” in a list (like June, July, and August) is an Oxford comma. Its use seems to be ...
