Along came another float

Editor,
It was a great turnout for the Ronan St. Patrick’s Day parade. The bagpipes were my first live music in a year. Nothing ever sounded better. The 4-H ‘ers were there along with floats of all kinds. The theme was Irish but then along came a float that I hope to never see again in a parade in Ronan: a float with the F word on it, and our President’s name. Not only was it obscene, it put a shiver in my heart and my soul in my socks. Whoever made that float owes the community an apology. I for one am grateful for President Biden’s leadership and was saddened to see him disrespected.
“I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living, for my club, my community, my country and my world,” the 4-H pledge, are words that shaped me to believe that the will to hate is not as strong as that of a heart with a song to sing. I pray that all young folks can witness their elders figuring out how to get along and show respect, for all our sakes. A man who would not kill a fly brings a bigger blessing than any bully that ever threw his weight around fomenting hate.
I have not wanted the vaccine, preferring healthy choices with diet and lifestyle, which have worked well for me. It’s not easy climbing into the brilliance of the light of this new day. But the vaccine is “for the greater good.” If they could come up with a vaccine for racism and hate, that would be even better. All lives matter. This is a fundamental truth. I believe in peace. Answers spring from a merging of hearts and minds called love, evidenced by the sound of election day church bells in Paris … the feel of a perfect day at the Lake … being able to go places and mingle. It is all the feeling of Love. That and goodwill towards all creatures “of every walk” is the answer. Peace and Happy Spring.
