HAMILTON – In the last match up with Florence, the Maidens won a 61-60 nail-biter. The nails were spared as the Maidens rolled to a 61-48 win over Florence for the District 6B championship on Saturday.
The Maidens led Florence 26-21 at the half and put the game away with a 35-27 second half. Alicia Camel paced the Maidens with 20 points and Lee Camel added 18.
On Thursday, the Maidens had a first round-bye and on Friday, beat Loyola 60-51 to reach the title round.
Against Loyola, Lee Camel led the Maidens in double figures with 17 points. Micalann McCrea scored 14 points, Louetta Conko-Camel added 13, and Jaelynn Askan followed up with 10 more.
The Maidens will host divisional this weekend, starting on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs’ season ended with a 68-62 loss to Loyola on Saturday.
Karolyna Buck kept the game interesting by scoring half of the Lady Bulldogs’ points. She scored a game-high of 31 points.
Ronan and Mission boys’ basketball team seasons came to an end on Saturday. The Chiefs lost a close one to Deer lodge 62-61. Zeke Misa scored a game-high of 17 points for the Chiefs. Bulldog Wacey McClure scored a team-high of 11 points in a 50-32 loss to Florence.
