ST. IGNATIUS — Glacier Banks recently presented a $1,500 check to the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center. The center’s board of directors expressed its gratitude for the generous donation that will help the center provide quality meals and services.

Samantha Walker from the Area VI Agency on Aging will be in the center to consult with seniors about possible changes in their drug plans on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Medicare open enrollment period is under way.

AARP will present a driving course designed for seniors in the center on Friday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The charge for the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. The class includes a workbook. Insurers give rate reductions for those taking the course. Stop by or call the center to sign up for the lesson. 

Over 50 people enjoyed the barbecue ribs dinner at the center Wednesday, Oct. 21. The center has evening meals every first and third Wednesdays of the month at 5:30 p.m. You don’t have to be a senior citizen to partake in the meal. There will be a pork chop dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 4. 

The Thursday Quilters have made scarecrow heads as a fundraiser for the center. They are hanging on a wall in the center. People can vote for their favorite scarecrow by putting money in envelopes below them. The voting will end and the winner will be announced on Oct. 30.

The activities at the center for the rest of October and November are: —  Bingo is played after almost every lunch. 

—  Lunches begin at noon. 

—  Dinners begin at 5:30 p.m. 

—  Quilters quilt in the center on Mondays and Thursdays. 

—  Lunches may be delivered to qualified seniors.

—  Friday, Oct. 30: goulash lunch

—  Tuesday, Nov. 3: chicken casserole lunch

—  Wednesday, Nov. 4: pork chop dinner, 5:30 p.m.

—  Friday, Nov. 6: AARP driving course, 9 a.m.; shepherd’s pie lunch

—  Monday, Nov. 9: pinochle, 7 p.m.

—  Tuesday, Nov. 10: board of directors, 10:30 p.m.; breakfast for lunch

—  Friday, Nov. 13: baked chicken and birthday cake lunch

—  Tuesday, Nov. 17: stir-fry and rice lunch; foot clinic 

—  Wednesday, Nov. 18: Thanksgiving turkey dinner, 5:30 p.m.

—  Friday, Nov. 20: taco salad lunch

—  Tuesday, Nov. 24: soup and sandwiches lunch

—  Friday, Nov. 27: closed
