After battling through a windy Western B-C Divisional tournament Friday and Saturday, Mission-Arlee-Charlo softball clinched the Divisional title in a nailbiter against the Maidens in Ronan.
Heading into the final inning with MAC up by two, Maidens slugger Amanda Morency singled in a run, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Lady Bulldogs as MAC’s Morgan Malatare slammed a home run in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win. Jordyn Eichert also homered for MAC, and Morency was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for Ronan.
Mission is the No. 1 seed from Western B-C heading into the state tournament starting Thursday in Belgrade, and Ronan is No. 2. The top four teams from Divisionals advance to State, so Florence and Plains-Hot Springs will also travel to Belgrade this week.
On Thursday, Ronan (20-4) will face Great Falls Central at 2 p.m., and MAC (16-6) will take on Huntley Project at 4 p.m.
