POLSON — Tim Berg, director of special services for School District 23, talked about the school’s safety plan at the June 9 school board meeting. Mandated by the Montana Office of Public Instruction, the plan is in the works for the 2014-15 school year, Berg said, with the committee writing the plan.
“One of the things we haven’t completed is the flip charts that go in every room,” Berg said.
The charts contain simple procedures for emergencies. He also said the schools would work with local agencies, such as law enforcement, emergency management and the fire department, to practice. Trustees voted to approve the plan.
In other business:
• Principals summarized their 2013-14 school year for school board members.
• Trustees approved the personnel report for both the high school and elementary districts. This report summarizes hiring, retirement and resignations of staff.
• Trustees approved a Polson Middle School out-of-state trip to Silverwood and the PMS handbook. Superintendent Linda Reksten noted that Joe Brott, Director of Policy Services at the Montana School Board Association, had reviewed the handbook.
The next meeting will be a special meeting to be held June 23 at 4 p.m. to approve a resolution for the Quality Schools Grant.
