Valley wrestlers capture top-five spots at State

Wrestlers from Polson, Ronan, Arlee, and Mission-Charlo competed at the All-Class State Wrestling Tournament in Billings on Friday and Saturday, with 10 grapplers from the valley making it to the top five.
In the Class A division, Polson’s team finished in 10th place out of 22 teams, with a score of 73. Wrestlers Carlos Quinones (126) and Tel Motichka (171) each grabbed a fourth place finish while Thunder Morales (106) and Jaron Morgan (113) each finished fifth in their weight classes. Tele Seeman (182) and Isaiah Williams (220) each placed sixth.
Class B-C included teams from Ronan, Arlee and Mission-Charlo.
With 36 teams competing, the Mission-Charlo team boasted the highest placing of the valley teams, taking seventh with a score of 91.5. Ronan finished 15th with a team score of 49 and Arlee’s score of 18 placed the team in 29th.
Six wrestlers placed in the top five. Mission-Charlo’s Jacen Peterson (170) came home with a first place State title for the second year in a row, capping two undefeated seasons.
Bulldog Morgan Shultz (106) just missed first place as he battled to a close 8-6 decision won by Maestro Martinez of Wolf Point. Still, Schultz proudly came home with second while teammate Jamie Mullins (126) finished up with a respectable third. Fifth place finishers included Brandon Dumont (145) and Michael Irvine (HWT) from Ronan and Mission-Charlo’s Steven Bravo (182).
Arlee’s Alex Bertollt (160) returned home in sixth place.
