MAC softball rebounds to a 4th place finish at state

GREAT FALLS — The Mission/Arlee/Charlo softball team ended their season with a respectable fourth place finish Friday in Great Falls.
They opened play Thursday with a 3-4 loss to Glasgow. Sara Nerby, Loren Erickson and Sahriha Camacho had two hits apiece. Jordyn Eichert swatted a double during the game and an RBI, while Emyli Gillingham added an RBI.
The loss pitted the Lady Bulldogs against Huntley Project on Friday.
The MAC bats got hot with eight of nine batters getting at least one hit in the 9-7 victory.
Pitcher Erickson secured the win while adding a single, a double and three RBIs. With a runner on base, Morgan Malatare slammed a home run.
Nerby went 2 for 5 with a double, Gillingham hit 3 of 5 with one RBI and Emilie Charlo went 2 for 3 with both hits batting in a runner to score.
With a win under their belt, the Lady Bulldogs proceeded immediately to the next game against Deer Lodge.
The St. Ignatius team put away the Lady Wardens with the 13-10 victory. Erickson battled from the mound and the batter’s box, hitting three doubles with two RBIs.
Gillingham ruled the bat with four RBIs and a homerun, while Nerby went 3-6 with a double and an RBI.
Courtney Charlo knocked in a homer and an RBI, and Emilie Charlo went 2-5 with a double. Eichert added two hits, including an RBI.
With no rest between games, the Lady Bulldogs next faced Columbus/Absorkee.
Erickson pitched her fourth game of the tournament and her third back-to-back game that day, ending their year with a heartbreaking 6-7 loss. Had MAC won, they would have faced Ronan for the third-place game.
Catcher Alyssa Doty hit two of four at-bats with one RBI. Malatare went 1-4 yet batted in two runners on her hit.
