Track and Field
Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates
Under the lights Thursday evening in Corvallis, the Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates posted a solid performance during the Sapphire Twilight Invitational held at the Corvallis Community Event Center.
Ashtyn Wagner finished second in the 800 and fourth in the 1600 for the Lady Pirates. Adison Carlson placed fifth in the 3200, Hannah Simpson ran eighth in the 100 meters, and Trinity Bell nabbed ninth in the discus.
On the Pirates side of the track, Drifter Skillicorn placed fourth in the long jump and sixth in the 800 meters, while Cassidy Hendricksplaced ninth in both the 200 meters and high jump. Ethan McCauley placed fifth in the shot put, and Jarrett Wilson finished eighth in the 100 meters.
On Saturday during the Columbia Falls Iceberg Invitational held at the Dr. Nicosia Track Complex in Columbia Falls, the Lady Pirates finished 1-2-3 in the 800 with Wagner nabbing the top spot with a time of 2:35.83 followed by Carlson and Halle Heninger. Also for the Lady Pirates, Michelle Dale placed eighth in the 200 meters and ninth in the 100 meters, Isabel Seeley placed seventh in the 800, and Hannah Simpson finished seventh in the 200 meters.
For the Pirates, Skillicorn grabbed fifth place in the long jump, while McCauley finished eighth in the discus and tenth in the shot put.
Arlee Warriors and Scarlets
Scarlet Adalyn Jacobson paced both the Arlee Warriors and Scarlets with three top ten finishes during the Bigfork Invitational Make-Up held in Bigfork on Tuesday, April 19. Jacobson placed third in the 400 meters, seventh in the 100 meters, and eighth in the 200 meters.
Also for the Scarlets, Shonlea Matt placed sixth in the shot put, Alonah Warrior finished seventh in the triple jump, and Raven Parson placed in eighth in both the 800 and high jump.
For the Warriors, R.J. Knoll tied for second place in the pole vault and finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles, and Charley Crawford placed third in the javelin and
ninth in the 200 meters. Kendall O’Neill placed seventh in the high jump and eighth in the long jump, and Jake Knoll finished sixth in the shot put and ninth in the triple jump.
Warriors Crawford placed fourth in the javelin, and R.J. Knoll finished seventh in the pole vault, while Scarlet Jacobson in the 400 meters finished ninth during Saturday’s Seeley-Swan Invite held at the MCPS track in Missoula.
Charlo Vikings and Lady Vikings
On Thursday evening in Corvallis, the Charlo Vikings and Lady Vikings booked seven top ten finishes during the Sapphire Twilight Invitational held at the Corvallis Community Event Center.
For the Vikings, Hayden Hollow finished fourth in the 800 meters followed by Tucker Love with a fifth place in the javelin, Keaton Piedalue finished the 200 meters with a sixth-place run, and Hayden Smith in the 1600 finished in sixth place. Also for the Vikings, Jacob Tomlin threw a ninth place finish in the javelin.
Kyla Tomlin finished fifth in the shot put for the Lady Vikings, and Aida Cote placed tenth in the discus.
During the Seeley-Swan Invite held at the MCPS track in Missoula on Saturday, Tomlin placed fifth overall in the shot put, sixth in the javelin, and tied for tenth in the pole vault, while Aida Cote finished sixth in the discus.
Piedalue finished seventh in the 400 meters for the Vikings and ninth in the 200 meters followed by Love with an eighth place showing in the javelin and Smith with a tenth place in the 3200.
Mission Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs
Mission Bulldog Andrew Rush raced to a first-place finish with a time of 2:06.65 in the 800 meters during Saturday’s Seeley-Swan Invite held at the MCPS track in Missoula. Rush also placed third in the 1600.
Also for the Bulldogs, Kellen McClure posted a first place finish in the javelin with a throw of 167 feet and 5 inches. Charles Adams grabbed two top ten finishes placing fifth in the long jump and sixth in the 200 meters, followed by Canyon Sargent who tied for seventh in the high jump.
Softball
Polson Lady Pirates
On Friday, the Polson Lady Pirates fell 14-4 to the visiting Columbia Falls Wildkats.
Pitcher Katelyne Dryvestein started in the circle for the Lady Pirates. Dryvestein allowed nine runs on five hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking none. Out of the bullpen in relief, Turquoise Pierre threw two and a third innings allowing five runs on six hits, striking out one and walking two. Both Polson pitchers gave up a home run.
Jaivin BadBear led the Lady Pirates at the plate going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
On Saturday, the Lady Pirates rebounded from the loss the night before and moved to 6-1 overall record on the season with a 20-0 rout over the visiting Browning Lady Indians.
MAC Lady Bulldogs
MAC Lady Bulldog Izzy Evans pitched a 10-0 shutout victory against the visiting Thompson Falls Lady Blue Hawks on Tuesday, April 19.
Evans held the Lady Blue Hawks run less on two hits, striking out four and walking none.
At the plate, Gabby Smith, Rheid Crawford and Hayleigh Smith all booked two hits apiece, while Evans helped her cause with a two RBI effort.
On Saturday, MAC picked up 18 runs on 10 hits in a 18-1 road win over the Powell County Lady Wardens.
Payton Smith picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs striking out five while giving up one run on two hits.
Rheid Crawford and Hayleigh Smith led MAC batters with four RBI’s apiece.
