Ronan tennis teams struggle through rough week

It was a busy week for the Ronan boys and girls tennis teams as they competed against four schools, loosing seven of eight matches. The only win of the week came when the Maidens took down Whitefish, 6-1.

In singles action against Whitefish, Maidens number one Josie Benedetti took down Caroline Carbo, 6-0, 6-2. In doubles, Taylor Courville and Katelyn Matkovich defeated Megan Danczyk and Lindsey Viscomi 6-4, 6-3.

The Chiefs took two of seven match against the Bulldogs, as the team fell 5-2. The two victories for the team came when Chase Allen defeated Kolter Larsen, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in singles, while Aaron Yazzie and Spencer Suchabeat beat Haus Munzing and Nevada Kramer 6-3, 6-2 in doubles.

Ronan also traveled to Bigfork, where both teams fell to the Vikings and Vals. The Maidens’ only win against the Vals came when Aimee Freiber defeated Alanis Stallknecht, 6-1, 6-1.

The Chiefs weren’t able to bring back a victory against the Vikings, as they dropped all seven matches.

The Maidens also hosted Columbia Falls in Ronan, where the WildKats were able to squeeze out a 4-3 victory. In singles action, Amber Metzger defeated Natalie Law, 6-1, 7-5. The other two victories for the team came in doubles, first with a solid performance from Seri Smith and Daria Blixt-Leo, as they defeated Rachel Hagedone and Mckenna Emmerich, 6-0, 6-0. Sarah Anderson and Aimee Freiberg also took down Gabby Keller and Tiffany Borland, 6-0, 7-5.

In boys action, the Chiefs were only able to pull out a pair of wins, as they fell 5-2. The wins came first when Daniel Aylesworth and Tyler Anderson defeated Andrew West and Josh Potter, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. The other victory came when Logan Soukkala and Christian Anderson took down Nathan Gedlaman and James Jurva, 6-3, 6-3.

The Chiefs and Maidens faced off against Columbia Falls later in the week, but fell a second time when Columbia Falls beat the Maidens 5-2, and the Chiefs. Both wins for the team came in doubles play, as the number two duo of Brianna Frank and Seri Smith took down Courtney Tamborelli and Emma Covill, 6-4, 7-4. Sarah Anderson and Darian Blixt-Leo picked up the second win, after they defeated Tiffany Borland and Gabby Keller, 6-3, 6-2.

The Chiefs were only able to pull out one win against Columbia Falls the second time around, as Logan Soukkala and Christian Anderson defeated James Jura and Mason Gedleman, 6-2, 6-4.
