ST. IGNATIUS — A head-on collision at U.S. Hwy. 93 MM 34, north of St. Ignatius, claimed the life of a 58-year-old Wade Tibbetts, of Ronan, and injured two others on Thursday, Oct. 21.
According to a report from the Montana Highway Patrol, a northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with a southbound GMC Yukon when it crossed the center line into the southbound lane at approximately 9 a.m. The Yukon left the roadway and went into a roll, ejecting its passenger, a 55-year-old Ronan woman who was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital with injuries. Tibbetts, driver of the Yukon, died at the scene. Driver of the Jeep, a 49-year-old man from Arlee, was transported to St. Luke Community Hospital with injuries. According to the MHP report, the crash is under investigation and it is unknown if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors.
