Montana HB 505 killed
News from Nathan Stein, House Minority Communications Director
HELENA — Democrats claim end to assault on conservation — Montana House Democrats killed HB 505, a bill that would have privatized one of Montana’s unmatched public resources — our elk — and prioritized hunting access for out-of-state tourists over Montana residents. “HB 505 was an attack on Montana’s hunters and hunting heritage; making elk a private resource to be enjoyed by a few out-of-staters and landowners instead of hard-working Montanans,” said FWP Vice Chair Rep. Rob Farris-Olsen. “(This) is a big win for conservation, and a strong reflection of the overwhelming opposition that we heard from Montanans in committee and in messages to legislators.”
