A St. Ignatius woman has admitted to distributing heroin in the Mission Valley.
Lolanda Lou Sorrel-Buck, 48, entered a plea of guilty at District Court in Polson on Dec. 9 to criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, a felony. The plea was entered as part of a plea agreement that will dismiss, at sentencing, one felony count of use or possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture and felony possession of dangerous drugs.
According to court records, on May 2, a law enforcement officer with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes observed Sorrel-Buck driving her silver Dodge Avenger. Having personal knowledge that Sorrel-Buck was wanted on an outstanding warrant, the officer conducted a traffic stop on her vehicle.
A preliminary search of the Dodge Avenger turned up burnt tinfoil with heroin residue. The Dodge Avenger was seized and a warrant to search the vehicle was obtained. The following search turned up 20 grams of heroin, four grams of meth and $1,935 in cash. The drugs had a street value of between $7,000 and $8,000.
Sorrel-Buck allegedly told investigators that she uses the Dodge Avenger to drive to Missoula where she meets her source for the heroin. She also is alleged to have stated that she bought 25 grams of heroin for $2,500 and was selling it for $200 per gram.
The plea agreement calls for Sorrel-Buck to be sentenced to any time already served at the time of sentencing and 10 years with the Montana Department of Corrections all suspended. The agreement allows Sorrel-Buck to keep her silver Dodge Avenger and any non-contraband items seized from her. Judge James Manley set sentencing for Jan. 27.
