Culture celebrated at St. Ignatius school powwow

The St. Ignatius School District held their annual cultural celebration with native games, drumming and workshops on Friday. The event finished up with a powwow in the school gym, which was open to the public. Native American Studies teacher Aspen Decker organized the day to celebrate culture and family. Yamencut was the host drum, and Kenny McClure was the lead dancer. Charlie Quequesah acted as the emcee this year. High school seniors were honored during the grand entry along with Joann Phillips who is retiring after 43 years of teaching.
