ST. IGNATIUS – A man was killed while riding his bike during the morning hours of Sunday, May 21, according to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell. The incident occurred near the intersection of Chalwain Road and St. Mary’s Lake Road.
Sheriff Don Bell stated that Nick J. Herak, 73, died from his injuries after being hit by a vehicle. His body was sent to the Montana crime lab for an autopsy.
The Montana Highway Patrol arrested Douglas Calvin Charlo, 47, for negligent vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident, Sheriff Bell said.
