Loyola 6-0 and defeated Corvallis 4-3. Singles players Colin Kenney and Cassie Carlyle both went 2-0 by defeating their opponents in straight sets. On Saturday, the Ronan Chiefs and Maidens were on the road at Troy to face the Troy Trojans and Libby in a dual match. The Chiefs split their matches beating Troy 3-0 and falling 5-1 to the Loggers. The Maidens tied Troy 2-2 and fell to the Lady Loggers 6-0. Chiefs’ Bailey Moss continued to stay undefeated in singles action by going to 2-0 in straight sets. The Mission Bulldogs started their season on Thursday against the Darby Tigers. The boys won 2-0 and the girls lost 4-1. In singles action, Warren Castor and Elsa Kylen won their matches with straight-set victories. On Saturday, the Bulldogs faced the Valley Christian Eagles and, in a rematch from Thursday, the Darby Tigers. The boys lost to the Eagles 5-0 and 2-0 to the Tigers. The girls fell by the score of 2-1 in each of their three matches. In singles action, Elsa Kylen went 2-1 against her opponents for the Bulldogs. The 2017 prep tennis season officially got into full swing for programs across the Mission Valley this past week.
The Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates tennis season began on Thursday, when they swept the visiting Libby Loggers and Hamilton Broncs.
The Pirates bested the Loggers 7-0 and outlasted the Broncs 4-3, while the Lady Pirates defeated both the Lady Broncs and Loggers with the identical score of 6-1.
Singles players Kaiden Forman-Webster, Cassie Carlyle and Sophia Speckert each went 2-0 for Polson with Carlyle and Speckert winning all their matches in straight sets.
On Saturday, the Lady Pirates and Pirates continued their winning ways by sweeping the visiting Loyola Rams/Breakers and Corvallis Blue Devils.
The Pirates outscored the Rams 7-0 and slipped past the Blue Devils 4-3, while the Lady Pirates shutout Loyola 6-0 and defeated Corvallis 4-3.
