Pirates' skid snapped

POLSON — The Pirates snapped their three-game losing skid Dec. 20 by beating the visiting county rival Ronan Chiefs, 62-51.

The Class-B Chiefs held tough, taking a 31-24 Pirate advantage into the locker room at the half. But Polson outscored the Chiefs 20-9 in third quarter to seal the deal for the Pirates.

Matthew Rensvold led three Polson players in double figures with a game high 21 points.

Ezekiel Misa’s 18 points was the high-water mark for the Chiefs. On Monday, Dec. 19 the Chiefs traveled down to Missoula and lost 70-66 in a District 6-B match up with the Loyola Breakers.

Ezekiel Misa led Ronan with 11 points.

HOT SPRINGS – Savage Heats’ Trevor Paro’s 33 points was a bit more than the visiting Bulldogs could handle, losing 57-51 on Dec. 19. Isaac Alexander scored 16 points and Wacey Mc- Clure followed up with 15 points for the Bulldogs.

ARLEE – The undefeated Plains Horsemen handed the hosting Warriors their first loss of the season in a close 71-67 game in District 14-C action Dec. 20. Before fouling out of the game, Phillip Malatare scored a game-high 25 points. Will Mesteth scored 17 points and Tyler Tanner added 14 points for the Warriors.

CHARLO – The Noxon Red Devils fell to the Vikings in District 14-C play, 61-53, on Dec. 20. Tyson Petticrew led all shooters with 19 points and Landers Smith added 16 more for the victorious Vikings.

Two Eagle River

PABLO – The Eagles held off a fourth quarter scoring rally from the Victor Pirates Dec. 20 to post a 68-62 victory. Brendan McDonald scored 14 points and both Bronco Bransen and Chasen Curley scored 13 points for the first Eagle win.
