ST. IGNATIUS — Citizens will be able to judge their abilities to perceive vehicle speeds in a demonstration by St. Ignatius Chief of Police Matthew Connelly. The demonstration will be held during a meeting of the St. Ignatius Chapter of Neighborhood Watch on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m.
During the July meeting of the chapter, Connelly said he will drive by the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens at various speeds and those in attendance will be able to compare what they perceive those speeds to be to the actual speeds of the police car. The public is invited to attend and participate.
During the July meeting of the chapter, Connelly said there has been a rash of scam calls in the area, especially to elderly persons. “When unknown persons call you and ask for money or personal or financial information,” Connelly said, “don’t do it!” It is often extremely hard to find and prosecute scammers and lost money is seldom recouped, he said. The public is invited to attend and participate in all meetings and activities of the Neighborhood Watch.
