Editor,
Monday, May 28, the Mission Valley Honor Guard presented the colors, and honored our fallen veterans at two services at the cemeteries at St. Ignatius. It always amazes me the honor and dignity these veterans show to our country, to our flags — the honor and pride they show to those who served this nation. A number of this honor guard have served this country and our community for over 60 years and more. I have seen these men presenting the colors at 100 degrees, and I’ve seen them at below 0 honoring a fallen comrade who’s passed on. This group of men and women deserve our thanks and gratitude. They get no pay, they buy their own gas to get to the services, take time off work, buy their own uniforms, just to honor a comrade, or present the colors at one of our community events. If it’s a parade, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, any community event, a lot of community events they are behind it, sponsoring it, you can always count on them.
I know that the VFW at Ronan was presenting colors and having a service as well, and the Hellroaring Marine Corps League were out in Polson as well. All these veterans giving a great part of themselves once again to our country and community. Thank you; may God bless all of you for your service.
I encourage people to shake a hand and say thanks; that’s all these great patriots get. If you can, help them out with expenses.
Once again, thank you and God bless.
