Ronan High School Chinese lanterns

Ashleigh Lynch sends a Chinese lantern into the night sky last Wednesday night as many of her classmates and fellow residents followed suit. Ronan High School teacher Bonnie Eva said the event was planned and organized in part by Ronan High School's student council. "It's a remembrance for anybody you couldn't see over the holidays," Eva said. "Whether they've passed away; just couldn't be here; are on active duty service overseas or they're just many miles away." Ronan resident Emosi Tatukivei and daughter Adriana were on their way home when they saw the lanterns floating toward the mountains over U.S. Highway 93. Emosi said he first thought they were helicopters. "This is really cool," he said. "What a great way to celebrate."
