‘Good Old Days’ provides three days of fun
ST. IGNATIUS — “Good Old Days in St. Ignatius” is three days of family fun in the Good Old Days Park. This year’s event will be held July 19-21. Friday family night will start with a barbecue dinner, followed by entertainment and fireworks. Saturday will be the Buffalo Run, pancake breakfast, parade, fun and games in the park, lots of special events and food. Sunday, a fly-in at the airport with free airplane rides for children ages 8 to 17.

Class of 1963 plans busy reunion during Good Old Days
ST. IGNATIUS — The Mission class of 1963 will celebrate its fiftieth-year reunion during St. Ignatius Good Old Days, July 19-21. On Friday July 19 we meet at Ron and LaVonne Olmsted’s at 1 p.m. to work on the float. That evening we meet at Good Old Days Park for the Chamber of Commerce barbecue from 5:30-7:30 p.m. On Saturday those who wish may have breakfast from 7 a.m.-noon at St. Ignatius Senior Citizens' Center and then meet at the school for the parade, ride on the float and have lunch at the park. We meet at the quad on the south side of the high school at 2 p.m. to tour the school. Any other classes that are meeting are welcome to join us. After 3 p.m. we gather at the Olmsted’s for visiting and a picnic catered by the Amish.

Classmates to celebrate turning 75 years old together

Memorial golf tournament helps Lake County students
RONAN — The eleventh annual Ken Sagmiller/Pat Williams ALS memorial/scholarship scramble is on July 20 at the Mission Mountain Golf Course. This annual tournament, named for two local golfers who passed away of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), a deadly disease with no known cure, supports victims of ALS and provides scholarships to the youth of Lake County. Runners run for fun in St. Ignatius
ST. IGNATIUS — The 2013 Buffalo Run in St. Ignatius is a 1-mile Fun Run, a 4-mile run-walk, a 7-mile, and a half-marathon. The half-marathon starts promptly at 7 a.m. All other races start at 8 a.m. The races start on Main Street in front of Gambles. Pre-entry deadline is July 16, and the cost is $20 for pre-registration with a T-shirt, and $10 without. Self-service doggy wash to benefit animal shelter
POLSON — The second annual Mission Valley Animal Shelter will conduct a $5 self-service Doggy Wash to raise funds for the shelter on Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of First Interstate Bank in Polson. Larger voluntary donations are always accepted. Anderson Broadcasting is sponsoring the Doggy Wash. Bring your dog and your camera and shelter personnel will provide tubs, hoses, water, shampoo, towels and brushes. Discounted micro-chipping will be offered. Try out crafts at ‘Live History Days’
POLSON — The Miracle of America Museum will host their annual “Live History Days” celebration July 20 -21. Many new displays have been added, including kid-friendly interactive displays. There will be three trains, a tank, army rigs and other vehicle rides, even a pump railroad velocipede, an operating sawmill, and schoolhouse activities. Munch a lunch in the afternoon while you relax and enjoy Montana old time fiddlers, accordionists, banjo pickers and more. On Saturday there is a black-powder shooting demonstration planned. These events are held rain or shine and the main building is air-conditioned. Admission is $5 for all people 3 years of age and older, and includes admission on all rides. Food is charged for. Teams to demonstrate dragon boat sport
POLSON — On Sunday, July 21, at noon, one of the fastest growing sports, dragon boat racing, will be demonstrated at Riverside Park. Drinkers of the Lake, a Polson team, Kalispell’s Flathead Dragonflies and teams from Missoula will use two boats in a relay fashion to demonstrate rowing and oaring. Just one of the many activities planned during Polson’s Cherry Festival.

IGNATIUS — In conjunction with Good Old Days in St Ignatius, the Lake County Chapter #1122 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be flying Young Eagles Flights at St. Ignatius Airport on Sunday morning, July 21, starting at 9 a.m. All children between the ages of 8-17, with their parents’ approval, can get a ride in an airplane free of charge. Breakfast will be available from 8-11 a.m. Entire event is weather dependent.

Children to audition at Boettcher Park
POLSON — Auditions will be held for Glacier Lily Theatre Company’s Children’s production of Robin Hood. Anyone going into grades two to 12 is welcome to audition at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 28, at Boettcher Park in Polson. Actors in fourth-12 grades are asked to prepare a thirty-second monologue. ‘A Quilter’s Garden’ theme used to create quilt displays
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their annual quilt show Aug. 1-3 at the K. William Harvey Elementary School gymnasium. Admission is free; doors open at 10 a.m.
This year’s theme is “A Quilter’s Garden.” Categories are: wall hanging art; challenge fabric; seasonal; table toppers; hand quilted; paper pieced; baby; lap/small; appliqué; miscellaneous; theme; vintage; wool; bed quilts; and guild sampler. Voting is on Thursday and Friday, with ribbons placed on Friday night. We will raffle off a fat-quarter basket and a quilt.
Proceeds are used to buy supplies to make TLC quilts, which are donated to people in the valley who are in need. Band plays family-friendly music
RONAN — The Lake County Fair will hold a concert with the Western Union Band (featuring members of the Big Sky Mudflaps) from 5-7 p.m. This is a family-friendly event and free of charge. In addition, a market livestock auction will take place at 7 p.m.

Public invited to learn about CSKT’s Fisheries’ DEIS
PABLO — The public is invited on Thursday, Aug. 1, to learn more about CSKT’s Flathead Lake fisheries draft environmental impact statement and native fish conservation goals. The meeting will be held at the Joe McDonald Fitness Center meeting room on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo starting at 7 p.m. Members of the Tribe’s Division of Tribal fisheries management activities in Flathead Lake are primarily focused on restoring a balance in Flathead Lake through the restoration of the native fish species, including westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout. Local anglers and conservation groups are encouraged to attend.
