‘Whale Rider’ movie, potluck on tap at UMC
ST. IGNATIUS — Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition, Inc. presents “Potluck and a Movie,” on June 26 at 6 p.m. This month’s movie is "Whale Rider" by Niki Caro. It’s a PG-13 movie and a beautiful story of a 12-year-old girl who trains herself in the ways of the Ancients to find hope for the future. There’s no charge for the movie.

South Shore neighborhood to gather with Heart and Soul
POLSON — Polson Heart and Soul continues its neighborhood gatherings on Thursday, June 27, from 6-8:30 p.m. Everyone of all ages is welcome to attend, with special emphasis for those living around the South Shore neighborhood. Fun, good conversation and a free dinner are planned and babysitting services are available.

Polson Heart and Soul project is holding approximately 20 of these gatherings to find out what you think about Polson. Folks are invited to engage in a friendly conversation with neighbors, ultimately to help develop a stronger, healthier Polson while preserving the best. Pachyderm group invites CPA to speak about taxes

Help combat child trafficking
FINLEY POINT — Please join The Red Road Foundation in our quest to build a self-sustaining, loving community for child victims of the sex trade in Cambodia. Add to library’s collection, adopt a book
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library is offering its annual Adopt-a-Book program, an opportunity to “adopt” a children’s book and present it to the library’s collection. Adopt-a-Book takes place during the month of February, which is designated “I Love to Read Month.”
Community members can purchase a book to honor a special child, friend, relative, or event (Valentine’s Day, birthday, anniversary, etc.), or to remember a loved one. Each hardback book is $13.
The wide variety of colorful new books waiting for adoption is now on display at the library. After a book is purchased, a bookplate will be inscribed and permanently placed in the front of the book. In addition, a special acknowledgement of the sponsored book can be sent to the honoree.

Scrap metal donations sought
VALLEY VIEW — Help save our school with a scrap metal drive. Do you have old appliances in the garage or out back? Old cars in your junk pile? Old copper piping? Radiators? Tire Rims? Donating any of these items can help save Valley View School from closing its doors this fall. There will be a Pacific Recycling container for all scrap metal items at the school all summer.
So take a drive out to Kerr Dam or Buffalo Bridge on Flathead River and drop your scrap metal items there at Valley View School to help the first school in Mission Valley. Fundraiser for group heading to Africa

Herb group invites interested persons
POLSON — The “Thyme for Herbs Group” will meet Tuesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E (east door).
