HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs Artists Society’s 2014 Juried Art Show will be in May and June with entry forms out by the end of February. It is open to everyone. Paintings, drawings, mixed media and sculpture, carving, metal sculpture, pottery and other original handmade works of art are accepted.

RONAN — The 21st edition of the Mission Valley Basketball tournament will take place in Ronan on June 20 and 21. The five-on-five tournament will feature 42 high school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from all over Montana. The 16-team varsity boys’ division has teams entered from: Stevensville, Browning, Heart Butte, Stanford, Bigfork, Libby and several local high schools. Nine teams are entered in the varsity girls’ division and 17 sub-varsity teams are entered. Games will be played in the Ronan Event Center, the High School and K. William Harvey Gym. A spectator admission of $5 a day will be charged and $3 for kids and senior citizens.

The Lake County Public Health Department invites parents of young children to attend its annual Injury Prevention Fair on Friday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the parking lot at 802 Main Street in Polson.

Lunch will be provided, as well as children’s activities, prizes and information on water safety, safe sleep, car seat and bike safety, and much more. There will be information about lead poisoning and screening, and vouchers will be provided for those who want to come back and get their child’s lead levels tested.

BIG ARM — On Saturday, June 21,The Big Arm Association will support the Fire Department Hamburger Fry at the Big Arm Fire Department. Children’s games will be provided at the Big Arm Historic School. 

DAYTON — Mission Mountain Winery encourages all summer gourmets to attend our free event on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The ice cream social at the winery is a part of the winery’s continuing program to educate the community about the pleasurable synergies created by the pairing of food and wine. The staff and winemaker have collaborated in producing several sorbet and ice cream treats: Muscato Sorbet and Vanilla Ice Cream with Cocoa Vin Chocolate Port.

POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Chamber Blast” will be held on Saturday, June 28, at Big Sky Sporting Clays. We will start with a quick beginner’s shooting clinic, followed by a shooter’s safety briefing prior to the Sporting Clays Tournament. A barbecue lunch and awards ceremony will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The cost is $110 per shooter or $330 per three-person team. Bring your shotgun, eye protection, and ear protection. ST. IGNATIUS — Mission Valley United Methodist Church, at the top of Post Creek Hill, south of Ronan, will hold a rummage sale on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to “Relay for Life,” to fight cancer.

ST. IGNATIUS — Kingdom Rock is a summer kids' event where kids stand strong for God.  It is scheduled Monday June 23-26 and hosted by St. Ignatius Mission. At Kingdom Rock, kids participate in memorable Bible learning activities; sing catchy songs; play teamwork-building games; make and dig into yummy treats; experience epic Bible adventures; collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them to stand strong; and test out Science-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long.  Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with Fanfare Finale-a at 3-3:30 p.m. Kingdom Rock is for kids from 5-12 and will run from noon (lunch) to 3:30 p.m. each day. ST. IGNATIUS — “Kingdom Rocks,” a vacation bible school program, will take place Monday-Thursday, June 23-26, from 5:30- 8 p.m. at Mission Valley United Methodist Church, at the top of Post Creek Hill, south of Ronan. An early light supper will be served.

POLSON — The mother-daughter duo known as “Heavenly Harp” will present a concert at Good Shepherd Church on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m., as part of their summer tour.

Music grads of Concordia and St. Olaf Colleges, Karin and Joy Gunderson will be joined by other family members in presenting beautiful harp, vocal, piano and flute music, and amazing “heavenly” stories.

The concert is offered at no cost, but a free-will offering opportunity will be available to help support the duo. CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase.

During the concert, musician and author Karin Gunderson will share stories from her new book Encounters with Heaven. Her stories are true accounts of those who have experienced God’s presence in miraculous ways. The stories are woven together with beautiful harp, vocal and flute arrangements of favorite Christian hymns and songs, light classical music and congregational singing.

POLSON/RONAN — Community Bank is having fundraisers for the upcoming Relay for Life at both the Ronan and Polson branches on Thursday, June 26.

There will be a bake and book sale starting at 9 a.m. at both branches. These will be inside the banks.
