Churches invite children to summer event
POLSON — The United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church invite children to ‘Kingdom Rock: Where Kids Stand Strong for God.” This summer kids’ event takes place in Polson and will be hosted at United Methodist Church from July 8 - July 12. Kids at Kingdom Rock will join an international missions effort to share God’s love with children in India. Kingdom Rock is for kids from preschool to sixth grade. Concert to support Boys and Girls Club
RONAN — The Bus Driver Tour concert will return this year to Ronan City Park on July 10 as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County.
Danny Freund, Paul Kupher and Ian Thomas will play ragtime, folk, blues, bluegrass and jug band music at this family event. Bring family, friends, a blanket and/or a chair. Board members will be selling hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks starting at 6 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m. In case it rains, another location will be announced. Wrestling camp open to all students
ST. IGNATIUS — Iron Dog Wrestling Camp, scheduled for July 15- 17 at St. Ignatius High School, has two sessions each day. One from 9 a.m.-noon and another from 1-4 p.m. The camp is open to students k-12, costs $35 and includes a T-shirt and lunches.

IGNATIUS — The Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition is sponsoring Dr. George Price’s slideshow presentation titled, “From the Earth: the true colors of humanity,” at 6 p.m. on July 17 at Mission Valley United Methodist Church. This is a potluck so bring a dish to share. The slideshow contrasts between many origin stories of indigenous peoples worldwide, exploring where the first people came from and the concept of human races imposed upon us during the 17th and 18th centuries.

‘Good Old Days’ provides three days of fun
ST. IGNATIUS — “Good Old Days in St. Ignatius” is three days of family fun in the Good Old Days Park. This year’s event will be held July 19-21. Friday family night will start with a barbecue dinner, followed by entertainment and fireworks. Saturday will be the Buffalo Run, pancake breakfast, parade, fun and games in the park, lots of special events and food. Sunday, a fly-in at the airport with free airplane rides for children ages 8 to 17.
Class of 1963 plans busy reunion during Good Old Days
ST. IGNATIUS — The Mission class of 1963 will celebrate its fiftieth-year reunion during St. Ignatius Good Old Days, July 19-21. On Friday July 19 we meet at Ron and LaVonne Olmsted’s at 1 p.m. to work on the float. That evening we meet at Good Old Days Park for the Chamber of Commerce barbecue from 5:30-7:30 p.m. On Saturday those who wish may have breakfast from 7 a.m.-noon at St. Ignatius Senior Citizens' Center and then meet at the school for the parade, ride on the float and have lunch at the park. We meet at the quad on the south side of the high school at 2 p.m. to tour the school. Any other classes that are meeting are welcome to join us. After 3 p.m. we gather at the Olmsted’s for visiting and a picnic catered by the Amish.

RONAN — The eleventh annual Ken Sagmiller/Pat Williams ALS memorial/scholarship scramble is on July 20 at the Mission Mountain Golf Course. Runners run for fun in St. Ignatius
ST. IGNATIUS — The 2013 Buffalo Run in St. Ignatius is a 1-mile Fun Run, a 4-mile run-walk, a 7-mile, and a half-marathon. The half-marathon starts promptly at 7 a.m. All other races start at 8 a.m. The races start on Main Street in front of Gambles. Pre-entry deadline is July 16, and the cost is $20 for pre-registration with a T-shirt, and $10 without. Self-service doggy wash to benefit animal shelter
POLSON — The second annual Mission Valley Animal Shelter will conduct a $5 self-service Doggy Wash to raise funds for the shelter on Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of First Interstate Bank in Polson. Larger voluntary donations are always accepted. Anderson Broadcasting is sponsoring the Doggy Wash. Try out crafts at ‘Live History Days’
POLSON — The Miracle of America Museum will host their annual “Live History Days” celebration July 20 -21. Many new displays have been added, including kid-friendly interactive displays. There will be three trains, a tank, army rigs and other vehicle rides, even a pump railroad velocipede, an operating sawmill, and schoolhouse activities. Munch a lunch in the afternoon while you relax and enjoy Montana old time fiddlers, accordionists, banjo pickers and more. On Saturday there is a black-powder shooting demonstration planned. Teams to demonstrate dragon boat sport
POLSON — On Sunday, July 21, at noon, one of the fastest growing sports, dragon boat racing, will be demonstrated at Riverside Park. Drinkers of the Lake, a Polson team, Kalispell’s Flathead Dragonflies and teams from Missoula will use two boats in a relay fashion to demonstrate rowing and oaring. IGNATIUS — In conjunction with Good Old Days in St Ignatius, the Lake County Chapter #1122 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be flying Young Eagles Flights at St. Ignatius Airport on Sunday morning, July 21, starting at 9 a.m. All children between the ages of 8-17, with their parents’ approval, can get a ride in an airplane free of charge.
