present Neil Simon’s ‘Fools’

POLSON — Port Polson Players will present “Fools,” a Neil Simon Comedy, June 27-29 and July 4-6 at Polson’s beautiful theatre on the lake. POLSON — Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes are scheduled in Polson and Ronan for six Tuesdays, June 3-July 8. The Polson class will be in the Community Bank meeting room 10-11:30 a.m. The Ronan class will be in the MSU Extension Office at the Ronan Community Center from 2-3:30 p.m. The class is sponsored by the Area VI Agency on Aging and Lake Co. Extension Service, to help caregivers take care of themselves, better understand their emotions, communicate more effectively, and find local resources. ARLEE — The 116th annual Arlee Celebration powwow begins Wednesday, July 2, and ends Sunday, July 6. All events are open to the public and free of charge. Arts, crafts, stick games, dance competitions, Native American and other ethnic foods will be available. Absolutely no alcohol, firearms, unleashed dogs or motorcycles are allowed in the camp area. The event takes place on powwow grounds on Powwow Road in Arlee. Wednesday is “Campers’ Day.” The memorial ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. There will also be a material stickgame on Wednesday. ARLEE — Karen Goulet, director of the Salish Kootenai Art Department, will be the featured artist at the Killdeer Artisans’ Guild summer show. The show presents new works from Montana artists at Hangin’ Art Gallery in Arlee. The opening reception will be held Saturday, July 5, from 2-4 p.m. and will remain up until Oct. 24.

CHARLO – The Mission Valley has been blessed to have a large number of diverse artists living and creating works here in the valley. Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana is pleased to use the gift shop as a venue to promote local artists during “First Saturday” throughout the summer months, June through September.

Plan to stop by between 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. on July 5 to see photographer Larry Kjorvestad. Karen Noles and her paintings will be featured from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Aug. 2. Husband and wife Heather and Matt Holmes will be on hand with their pottery on Sept. 6 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

HOT SPRINGS — Piano soloist and composer Allen James Teague brings his signature style of storytelling and musical artistry to the historic Symes Hotel in Hot Springs on Saturday, July 5, starting at 8 p.m. Teague has gained a worldwide following with original compositions crafted from stories that take flight in the form of articulate contemporary sounds entwined with the epic quality of pieces from days gone by.

ST. IGNATIUS — Peak Tennis camp will take place in St. Ignatius at the high school tennis courts. Camp instruction will be given by tennis pros from the Peak Tennis Club in Missoula. The camp will run Monday-Thursday, July 7-July 10, from 9-10:30 a.m. for ages 10-14 and from 10:30 a.m.- noon for ages 15-18. The cost is $60. DIXON — A summer food service program will begin on July 7 and run until Aug. 1, Monday through Thursday, with breakfast served from 7:30-9 a.m. and lunch served from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Dixon School community room.

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will meet July 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Terrace Lake Community Church, rather than July 1 so everyone can enjoy the 4th of July. Show and tell will be your finished challenge UFO’s and any vintage quilts you might have.  Bring your four fat-quarters for the raffle basket and items for the Country Store to be held at our Quilt Show. Raffle tickets will be available. Light refreshments are on a volunteer basis. The Quilt Show will be our main order of business, please sign up to help set up, work the show, and take down afterwards, so we have another successful show.

RONAN — The Lake County Relay for Life event will be held at the Ronan Sports Complex on July 11-12 beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. The event celebrates those who have won the battle against cancer, remembers those who have lost their battle and encourages everyone to fight back against the disease so that people cannot be hurt by cancer in the future. POLSON — Go to the Polson Fairgrounds and join the first wave of racers at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 19. This is the Boys’ and Girls’ Club second annual Mud Run.
