Hot Springs Artists Society holds 2014 Juried Art Show through June 30
HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs Artists Society’s 2014 Juried Art Show will be in May and June with entry forms out by the end of February. It is open to everyone. Paintings, drawings, mixed media and sculpture, carving, metal sculpture, pottery and other original handmade works of art are accepted.

All invited to discuss rural Montana’s future
POLSON — The Center for Rural Affairs invites Polson and area residents to join a meeting on Wednesday, June 11, at the North Lake County Library in Polson in the meeting room from 5-7 p.m. The meeting is about agriculture, adaptation, and rural Montana’s future and will include a community discussion featuring farmers, ranchers, scientists, and the faith community. Audubon speaker to discuss National Park in Chile
POLSON — “Pumas, Guanacos, and Patagonia National Park” by Jim Williams will be the next evening program of the Mission Mountain Audubon Society on Thursday, June 12, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Jim was sponsored by Patagonia Inc. to travel to the southern end of the world as a conservation ambassador. He has been involved with puma research, management, and conservation for more than 20 years.

Marine Lewis to speak about flags, walk across America
POLSON — Flag Day will be celebrated a couple of days early at the second Thursday evening program at the Miracle of America Museum, on June 12 at 6:30 pm. The program will cover the history of our American Flag and flag etiquette presented by Marine Sgt. Chuck Lewis. Lewis will also discuss his walk across America for wounded veterans. Library trustee candidate submissions due
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library District is seeking applicants for an opening on its Board of Trustees. Residency within the district’s boundaries (the same boundaries as Polson High School District #23) and a desire to serve are required for this volunteer position. The successful candidate will complete the term of a retiring trustee and will be eligible to run for office in the spring of 2015. Deadline for application submission is June 13.

Church holds fundraiser for summer camp
RONAN — A Friday the 13th Dinner and Auction fundraiser for the LDS Young Women ages 12-18, to go to girls summer camp at Seeley Lake in July, will be held in the gym at the LDS church in Ronan (4 blocks behind True Value) The barbecue chicken and roasted potatoes dinner will start at 6 p.m. The auction is donated items, services and homemade cakes and goodies and will start at about 6:45 p.m. Auction items include: kid's bike; quilts; quilted wall hangings; homemade jellies; large variety of food safe containers; youth performing services like: babysitting and car washes etc.; frozen meals; 4 yards of gravel; garden plants; movie basket and baby bull cow are a few of the items. Arlee to hold community-wide yard sale
ARLEE — Arlee Brown Building will host a free community-wide yard sale on June 14, 2014, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Spaces are free or you can rent a table for $10. A $5 lunch will be sold from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and includes chips, drink, cookie and your choice of hamburger or hot dog. Public invited to Flag Retirement Ceremony

RONAN — The “4-H Fun Run and Walk” is scheduled for June 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Community Bank-Ronan, Highway 93, Ronan, where the race starts and packet pick-up will be. Benefit for young brothers to be held
ARLEE — Four-year-old Tyler Conover, son of Liz Biebinger and Jerry Conover, and younger brother Levi Conover, sustained serious injuries from an accident on Saturday, June 7. Tyler is currently in Seattle receiving excellent medical treatment. He is expected to remain in Seattle for several weeks while he continues to receive treatment for his injuries. To help the family offset the cost of transportation and meals while in Seattle and to assist with the ongoing medical costs, a spaghetti benefit dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the Arlee Brown Building. Basketball played in three Ronan locations
RONAN — The 21st edition of the Mission Valley Basketball tournament will take place in Ronan on June 20 and 21. The five-on-five tournament will feature 42 high school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from all over Montana. The 16-team varsity boys’ division has teams entered from: Stevensville, Browning, Heart Butte, Stanford, Bigfork, Libby and several local high schools. Nine teams are entered in the varsity girls’ division and 17 sub-varsity teams are entered. Games will be played in the Ronan Event Center, the High School and K. William Harvey Gym. A spectator admission of $5 a day will be charged and $3 for kids and senior citizens.
Fair helps prevent children's injuries
The Lake County Public Health Department invites parents of young children to attend its annual Injury Prevention Fair on Friday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the parking lot at 802 Main Street in Polson.
Lunch will be provided, as well as children’s activities, prizes and information on water safety, safe sleep, car seat and bike safety, and much more. There will be information about lead poisoning and screening, and vouchers will be provided for those who want to come back and get their child’s lead levels tested.

POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Chamber Blast” will be held on Saturday, June 28, at Big Sky Sporting Clays. St. Ignatius Mission invites Children to Kingdom Rock
ST. IGNATIUS — Kingdom Rock is a summer kids' event where kids stand strong for God. It is scheduled Monday June 23-26 and hosted by St. Ignatius Mission. At Kingdom Rock, kids participate in memorable Bible learning activities; sing catchy songs; play teamwork-building games; make and dig into yummy treats; experience epic Bible adventures; collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them to stand strong; and test out Science-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with Fanfare Finale-a at 3-3:30 p.m. Kingdom Rock is for kids from 5-12 and will run from noon (lunch) to 3:30 p.m. each day. Heavenly Harp concert to include music, stories
POLSON — The mother-daughter duo known as “Heavenly Harp” will present a concert at Good Shepherd Church on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m., as part of their summer tour.
Music grads of Concordia and St. Olaf Colleges, Karin and Joy Gunderson will be joined by other family members in presenting beautiful harp, vocal, piano and flute music, and amazing “heavenly” stories.
The concert is offered at no cost, but a free-will offering opportunity will be available to help support the duo. CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase.
During the concert, musician and author Karin Gunderson will share stories from her new book Encounters with Heaven. Her stories are true accounts of those who have experienced God’s presence in miraculous ways. The stories are woven together with beautiful harp, vocal and flute arrangements of favorite Christian hymns and songs, light classical music and congregational singing.
