RONAN — For the second year in a row Pizza Café will hold a fundraiser ever Friday night in May. The Pizza Cafe will donate a portion of their pizza sales to the Friends of the Ronan City Library. You have five Friday nights to enjoy great pizza and support the library at the same time. All monies raised will be used to benefit the Ronan City Library.

We urge you to come down to Pizza Cafe and encourage all your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and teachers to make Friday nights, Pizza Night for the Library.

This fundraiser starts Friday, May 3 and runs each Friday night in May at the Pizza Café, located at 62953 U.S. Highway 93 in Ronan.

POLSON — Polson Youth Soccer Association will be hosting two sign-up events, May 23 and May 30; both from 5-7 p.m. Registration will take place at Kerr Dam Soccer Fields and cost $35, if registered by June 10, or $50 if registered after June 10. Players must be 5 years old by Aug. 1, 2013 to register. Season will run September 15-Oct. 13. PABLO — The Board of Directors of Salish Kootenai College announce the candidates for the President position, including applicants Carmen Taylor, Robert Depoe III, Steve Dupuis, Gyda Swaney and Sandra Boham.

All candidates are tribal members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and will be interviewed starting Wednesday, May 29.

Following each interview, each candidate will be available for a meet-and-greet session with SKC faculty and staff in the south lobby of the Big Knife building. All those that are interested are invited to meet each applicant. A tour of the SKC campus will follow.

ARLEE — On May 30, from 6 p.m.– 8 p.m. there will be a family forum with a free healthy dinner, free books, door prizes, community resource information and an educational presentation. This event will take place at the Arlee Fitness Center and is open to the public. Free childcare will be available.

POLSON — On Friday, May 31, Polson Middle School students Sophia Sisler and Annabelle Smith are hosting a “PoARTry In The Park” event at Polson’s Riverside Park from 5-7:30 p.m.  Come read a poem or just listen, and view art. RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their next regular meeting on June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan. We will mainly work on the Quilt Show agenda. RONAN—Anne Baier, an organic program specialist with the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), will be keynote speaker at a workshop on pastured poultry June 5 at the Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center in Ronan.

The workshops, offered by NCAT, Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center, and Salish Kootenai College, with support of USDA Risk Management Agency, offers ideas on how to succeed in the increasingly popular pastured poultry market.

The workshop will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and will feature several speakers and a hands-on chicken processing demonstration.

POLSON — A benefit spaghetti feed and silent auction will be held for Debbie Basler at the Polson Elks Lodge on Thursday, June 6, from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 for a family and they may be purchased at Port Polson Inn, Total Screen Design or at the door. 

Debbie has been diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, which has attacked every part of her body. Due to this debilitating disease, Debbie has been forced to leave her job and is on the verge of losing her home. She has no medical insurance and is finding it hard to qualify for financial assistance.

ST. IGNATIUS — What is a “Can Test” you ask? Well, it’s a great fundraiser for the food pantries in Ronan and St. Ignatius. It is a canned food contest.

Get your family and friends together and start collecting cans of food and then come up with a unique sculpture you can construct on-site with your cans.

Bring your cans to the Mission Valley United Methodist church on June 8 to compete for prizes and have a lot of fun while also providing a needed service for our valley food pantries.

Last year we collected 1,000 cans of food.  Let’s see if we can top that this year.

POLSON — A carnival sponsored by Polson Walmart and Nancy’s Kids will take place on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Polson Fairgrounds. RONAN — A benefit to defray Karen Linderman’s medical expenses is planned for Saturday, June 8, at the Ronan Community Center. Plan an evening of fun with family and friends. There will be a ham or vegetarian dinner served at 5:30 p.m. and an auction at 7 p.m.

Karen is a lifelong resident of the Mission Valley and former co-owner of the Vintage Rose. Her warm smile and baked goods always welcomed local folks and tourists alike.

RONAN — The Lake County Spay/Neuter Task Force is sponsoring a low-cost spay/neuter clinic on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, at Glacier View Christian School in Ronan. The clinic is for dog and cat owners that have low to moderate or fixed income. Appointments are required. POLSON — The Lake County Chapter 1122 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host Young Eagles Flights at Polson Airport on Saturday morning, June 8, starting at 9 a.m.

 All kids between the ages of eight and 17, with their parent’s approval, can get a ride in an airplane free of charge.

A breakfast of pancakes, ham and eggs will be available from 8-11 a.m. All activities are on a “weather permitting” basis.

POLSON — Are you interested in ice hockey, figure skating, curling, roller-skating, or roller derby?  If so, you are invited to attend an organizational meeting to discuss the viability of an outdoor refrigerated ice rink to serve all of Lake County and the Flathead Indian Reservation.
