‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Experience ‘Lights under the Big Sky’

RONAN — On Saturday, Dec. 11, “Lights Under the Big Sky” will provide fun and entertainment for residents of the Mission Valley at the Ronan Fairgrounds from 5-9 p.m. There will be holiday lights displays; family activities and Santa.

 

Faith Lutheran to hold Advent, Christmas Eve services

RONAN - Faith Lutheran Church, 406 5th Ave. SW, will hold Advent services on Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18, at 7 p.m. and a Christmas Candlelight service on Dec. 24, at 4 p.m.

Free 'Defining Domains of Wellness in Selfcare' training held

PABLO — On Friday, March 31, from noon 3 p.m. SAFE Harbor, 63506 U.S. Highway 93, Teresa Nygaard will present "Defining Domains of Wellness in Selfcare."What does it mean to feel well? There is no simple answer to this question because there are different aspects of feeling healthy or well for each individual. It’s not just about the absence of illness or stress, it’s so much more based on one’s life. The facilitator and participants will look at the domains of health and wellness. Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own selfcare diagram and plan.

Credits are available.

Hunt for Easter eggs

RONAN — Mission Mountain Enterprises will host an Easter Egg hunt at the Ronan Fairgrounds at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1. Children will hunt for eggs in the following age groups: 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years and 10-12 years. Come have some fun. Trail maintenance on horsemen meeting agenda

RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will have their next monthly meeting on April 4, at 7 p.m. at the VFW on Round Butte Rd. We will have a discussion with the Forest Service about trail maintenance projects for this year. We will also have a discussion about the upcoming celebration/convention about Back Country Horsemen celebrating 50 years of service at the Majestic Arena in Kalispell April 14-16. Two weekend end concerts planned

MISSION VALLEY — The Mission Valley Choral Society Palm Sunday weekend concerts are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Mission in St. Ignatius and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A meal will be served in the church basement immediately following the Sunday concert. The 90-minute concerts are free and welcoming to all. Free-will offerings will be taken at each concert.

RONAN — Mission West Community Development Partners, 407 Main St. SW, is offering a free workshop titled, “Food Formulation,” on Wednesday, April 5, from 9 a.m.- noon and afternoon sessions from 12:30-4:30 p.m. The afternoon sessions consist of one-on-one confidential meetings. Product development food scientists from Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center will provide this workshop concerning a diverse range of food product categories including sauces, beverages, bars, baked products, and more.

Two Easter egg hunts planned in Mission

ST. IGNATIUS — The St. Ignatius Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. on the Mission High School football field on Saturday, April1. Children will be grouped according to age with younger children going first. The second Easter egg hunt will take place between noon and 2 p.m. at the Christian Church.

Four Easter morning events planned

ST. IGNATIUS — Four events for Easter Morning, April 9, are on the schedule for the Mission Valley United Methodist Church on the top of Post Creek Hill. For early risers, a Sunrise Easter Service will be held at Ninepipes Restaurant at 6:45 a.m. All are welcome to this event. Wear a warm jacket. At 8 a.m., worship will begin in the sanctuary of the United Methodist Church followed by an Easter Brunch in the Fellowship Hall at 9 a.m. All are invited.

The 10 a.m. service will be held following brunch. After the 10 a.m. service children from 0-12 years old hunt for Easter eggs.

Registration to pre-enroll for both elementary schools for the upcoming 2023/2024 school year, will be held at: K. Wm. Harvey Elementary School, Thursday, April 13, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Beginning March 29, you may call to make registration appointments by calling the Ronan School District No. 30 at 676-3390 ext. 7700 (Pablo Elementary); ext. 7300 (Ronan/KWH Elementary) or ext. 7450 (Special Services Department).
