‘You’ make dances fun
RONAN — The monthly dance sponsored by the Little Big Band will be on Friday, Feb. 28, from 6-10 p.m. at the VFW hall on Round Butte Road. As always, there are plenty of refreshments though you are welcome to bring your own favorite snack if you’d like. Of course what makes this all fun, is you. Meet drug-detecting dog at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — Those attending the Friday, Feb. 28 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club will hear stories of how dogs are used in detecting illegal drugs. The meeting will be held at the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road beginning at 11:30 a.m. with brown bag lunches. The business meeting begins at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m. Featured speaker is Dennis Jones, retired Polson High School principal, who has worked narcotics and weapons canines for the past 12 years. He will bring his drug-detecting dog, a black lab named Jetta. All are welcome.
Play bingo for the After School Program
POLSON — The Polson After School Program plans a bingo night fundraiser for Feb. 28 from 5:30-8 p.m. or until the prizes run out, according to director Amanda Steele. It will be a family event with prizes for kids and parents alike. Concession stand food will be available. 4-H offers leather workshop
RONAN — Lake County 4-H is hosting a beginner’s leather craft workshop on March 1. Taught by Jamie Lake, participants will learn how to make personalized leather drink coasters and leather wallets. Participants should bring their own leather working tools and mallet as supply on hand will be limited. While there is no charge to take the class, there will be a materials fee of $5 covering the leather. Class will be held at the Lake County Extension Office in Ronan from 10 a.m. until noon. Space is limited to 10 participants. Call the Lake County Extension office at (406) 676-4271 to join.

March ‘Pursuits’ night focuses on fishing
ST. IGNATIUS — On March 2, a whole new “Pursuits” fun night is planned at Mission Valley United Methodist Church. Fishing in this God-given area is great and so Dick Wunderlich, with his 10 years experience with the Mack Day derby and many years of personal fishing, will guide us for the evening.
This family-oriented event begins with a fish taco supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by a talk and fly-tying demonstrations. There will also be fish-type games including fishponds with prizes for the little ones. There will be something for all ages and the public is always welcome. Look for more “Pursuits” nights coming on the first Sundays of each month: April 6 and May 4.

Public input sought for parks - Arlee
ARLEE — The Lake County Parks Board is developing a countywide parks and trails plan and is seeking public comment on the draft. The board will hold three public meetings to present key elements of the plan and to understand the public’s ideas for the development and maintenance of parks and trails.
The first meeting will be held Monday, March 3 at the Tribal Community Center in Arlee at 6 p.m.
Relay for Life sets planning meeting date
POLSON — A Lake County Relay for Life meeting is planned for Monday, March 3, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at First Interstate Bank in Polson. (Rescheduled from Feb. 26) Bring your “Relay” thinking caps and lets get planning for this year.
