Restoration Society holds annual meeting
CHARLO — The annual meeting of Fort Connah Restoration Society will be held at Ninepipes Lodge on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a no-host dinner and social hour. The membership meeting will begin at 7 p.m. All interested people are urged to attend. An election will be held to fill four Board of Directors positions. A review of the past year’s activities and accomplishments will be presented. Plans for the future will be discussed.

Groups present ‘CSKT Water Compact and You’
PABLO — The Republican Women and Lake County Democrats are joining together to present an informational program entitled “The CSKT Water Compact and You” at the Salish Kootenai Theatre on Thursday, Jan. 29. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m.
Rhonda Swaney, acting managing attorney for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, will be the presenter. Melissa Hornbein, staff attorney for the Montana Reserved Water Rights Commission, will also be on hand to answer questions.
The program will include a brief history of Montana Water Rights, key points of the newly negotiated Compact agreement, and the differences between a negotiated settlement versus litigation.

Spirit of Truth Church moves to Pablo
RONAN – The Spirit of Truth Church, Pache Community Building in Ronan, is relocating to 57816 Hwy. 93 South, Pablo (the old Allred’s Paints building.) The first service will be held Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. All are invited.
Bible studies and free counseling services will be provided as requested. A dedication service planned for the new location is yet to be scheduled.

Department of Agriculture sets local meeting
RONAN — The United States Department of Agriculture State Food and Agriculture Council in Montana will hold seven USDA community meetings on Montana’s seven Indian reservations from Feb. 2 to Feb. 9 to promote the availability of USDA programs. The local meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ronan Community Center, 300 3rd Ave. NW, Ronan. All invited to three-week ‘Spiritual Practices’ course
RONAN – Pastor Seth Nelson will be leading a three-week course entitled “Spiritual Practices in the Church and in the World” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 10, and 17. The course will focus on spiritual disciplines that many find helpful in their faith journeys including disciplines like devotional Bible reading, recitation of the Jesus Prayer, how to make and use prayer beads, and more. All are welcome to join us in the basement of Faith Lutheran Church in Ronan as we explore different spiritual practices together.
Public invited to informational meeting regarding water compact
POLSON — A City Commission Work Session will be held in Commission Chambers at 106 1st Street East on Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. to receive information about the Proposed Water Rights Compact. Representatives from the State of Montana, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and the Opponents of the Compact have been invited to give presentations.
The goal of this work session is to hear information strictly related to the municipal groundwater claims the City holds and how these claims may be affected by the Compact. After these informational presentations, the Commission may call for public comment and citizens are encouraged to attend. This work session will conclude promptly at 8 p.m. No political position on behalf of the City will be taken at this work session.
