Gallery begins annual art show
POLSON — Sandpiper Art Gallery at 306 Main Street in Polson holds its annual Christmas Art Show Nov. 28-Dec. 24. Local member artists have filled the Gallery and Gift Shop with original artwork and crafts for the budget minded or extravagant shopper. Sandpiper Art Gallery will be a part of the Polson Art Walk on Friday, Dec. 7, with a special open house from 5-8 p.m. Artists will be on hand demonstrating raku pottery, felt birds, painting and fast drawing. Elks plan New Year’s Eve party
POLSON — Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the best party in the valley at the Elks in Polson. James Pettit and the Little Big Band will play the best dance music in the country from 7 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on Dec. 31. Children’s programs start up at Polson library
POLSON — Children’s programming is starting up again at North Lake County Public Library in Polson. A special story time for preschoolers and their caregivers is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 3, at the library. The program will also provide an opportunity for parents and children to meet the library’s new Youth Services Librarian, Martel Memmer. The theme will relate to the New Year and New Year’s resolutions. As always, the program is free and open to all.
Mother Goose Time will resume Monday, Feb. 4. This special half-hour program is intended for babies and toddlers ages 1-3 and their caregivers. Two sessions will be presented each Monday the library is open through April, at 10:15 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m.
Story time will start again on Thursday, Feb. 7, with the theme “Tracks in the Snow.” These programs are geared toward children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Story time will be offered at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. each week through April. Sessions include stories, songs, finger-plays, rhymes, and fun.

Elks hold hoop shoot
POLSON — Boys and girls ages 8-13 (as of April 1, 2013) are invited to compete in the Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Polson High School gym. Free registration and warm-up will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the contest begins at 6 p.m. Age group winners advance to the district contest Jan. 5 in Pablo.
