‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Lake County Fair begins

RONAN — The Lake County Fair Board is excited to announce the 2017 Lake County Fair, starting Monday, July 24, and continuing through Saturday, July 29. This year’s theme is “Blue Skies, Cow Pies, and Family Ties.” Livestock judging, open class exhibits, agricultural displays, and local live entertainment will return traditions, but expect some new attractions as well. RONAN — 4-H dog obedience and showmanship/rally and agility will take place at the Lake County Fair from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; large animal check-in is from 3-7 p.m.; 4-H family style-dinner is from 5-8 p.m.; non-perishable open class check-in is from 5-8 p.m.; 4-H and open class poultry/rabbit check-in is from 6-8 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m. large animal weigh-in takes place.

RONAN — The Lake County Fair judges’ orientation begins at 8:30 a.m.; perishable open class check in is from 9 a.m.-noon; swine showmanship/judging is from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; llama/alpaca showmanship/judging begins at 10 a.m.; cat show is at 3:30 p.m.; open class judges’ orientation at 5 p.m.; 4-H family style dinner and entertainment from 5-8 p.m.; open class judging from 6-9 p.m.; market beef judging at 7 p.m. Concessions by 4-H Clubs, commercial, educational and non-profit booths will take place Tuesday, July 25-Sunday, July 31.

RONAN — The annual Mission Mountain Quilt Guild Show takes place on Friday, July 28, from 9:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. and on Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m.-3:45 p.m. at the K. William Harvey Elementary gymnasium. Deleen Winters will be the featured quilter. Raffle tickets for a bed quilt and for a basket of fat quarters will be available. Attendees may participate in the “people choice” voting for their favorite displayed quilt.

Exit 53 to perform in County Fair rodeo arena

RONAN — The Lake County Fair large animal round robin is at 10 a.m. and the small animal round robin is at 11:30 a.m. The Lake County Fair will hold an open ranch rodeo at 1 p.m. A ranch rodeo dinner and awards ceremony will take at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m. all exhibits may leave the grounds. In the ranch rodeo arena there will be a dance with music performed by “Exit 53” from 7:30-10 p.m.

RONAN –– Pioneer Days celebration begins in Ronan on Friday, Aug. 4, and will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday Aug. 4-6. Ronan Pioneer Days is a community event with fun for the whole family. There will be plenty of good old-fashioned entertainment. There will be a fishing derby from 8 a.m.-noon and happy hour will take place with the Ronan Pioneer Days Company at 5 p.m. The Bulls and Broncs Rodeo is at 7:30 p.m. Scholarships will be given out at the rodeo and you must be present to win. Museum holds flea market

RONAN — The Garden of the Rockies Museum will hold a Flea Market, Craft Fair, Yard Sale at their Round Butte Gym across from the VFW, the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Do you have yard sale items but not enough room to hold your own sale? Pioneer Days offers more events

RONAN — The second day of Pioneer Days begins at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Ronan VFW. The 36th annual Mission Mountain Classic Run, (5k and 10k), begins at 8 a.m. The Co-ed Softball Tournament is at 9 a.m. There will be a car show at 10 a.m. and a Kiddie Slicker Rodeo at noon. The open rodeo and Ring of Fire begins at 7:30 p.m. with scholarships again being given (must be present to win). Another street dance is planned for 9 p.m.
