‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. County Fair adds new event

RONAN — Friday begins with 8:30 a.m. judge’s orientation; sheep and beef breeding at 9 a.m.; 11:30 a.m. rabbit showmanship and judging. Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their show at 10 a.m. The Lake County Fair has a new addition to the schedule with a 4-H project costume competition at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. It should be entertaining for the participants and spectators alike. The day ends with a 5-7:30 p.m. 4-H open class talent show; 7:30 beef showmanship; 9-11 p.m. 4-H Ambassador’s Dance.

Fair brings first ranch rodeo

RONAN — The large animal round robin is at 10 a.m. and the small animal round robin is at 11:30 a.m. The Lake County Fair will have the first ever ranch rodeo. It begins at 1 p.m. The small-fry stock show and ranch rodeo dinner and awards are at 5 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. there will be an arena dance to the band Exit 53 from Billings.

RONAN — The Ronan High School class of 1956 will meet at the pavilion at Ronan City Park on Friday, Aug. 5, from 5-8 p.m. We invite graduates from all classes to join us. Food will be provided. Join the Kids’ Fishing Derby

RONAN — The annual Kids’ Fishing Derby will be held Friday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon in the covered pavilion of Bockman Park in Ronan. The Derby is held in conjunction with Pioneer Days. About 300 rainbow trout from Creston Fish Hatchery are donated by the tribes and planted into Spring Creek, with an additional 100 placed in tanks provided by Westland Seed. Children 7 years old and younger may fish the tanks.

Museum flea market seeks vendors

RONAN — Volunteers are doing their best to keep the Garden of the Rockies Museum up and running, but need more help. A fundraising Flea Market, Craft Fair and Yard Sale has been held twice this summer, and the next one is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Round Butte Gym across from the VFW.

Vendors are needed. The event is perfect for anyone with yard sale items to sell, or crafts, baked goods, candy, garden products, furniture and plants. Those who have a home-based business are also welcome. The cost of renting a space supports the museum. Ten-foot spaces are available inside and out for $10. RONAN — Sports physicals for the 2016-17 school year will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the Ronan Events Center commons area. You must have a sports physical to participate in middle or high school athletics. There will be a $25 charge with multiple doctor and nurse stations provided by St. Luke Community Health.
