‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. ‘Chainsaw Carving Rendezvous’ held

RONAN — From Thursday, June 20, until Sunday, June 23, a “Chainsaw Carving Rendezvous” will be held at the Lake County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. The event includes a Dutch oven class at 11 a.m.; the Cheff Ranch Legacy Outfitters from 2-6 p.m.; a carving seminar starts at 6 p.m.; the Farmers Market will be open from 4-7 p.m. and a carving auction will take place at 7 p.m. Watch all the action and see some amazing works of art by chainsaw carvers from across the U.S. Craft and food vendors, a beer garden, lumberjack log milling, and the CSKT Forestry and Fire Departments will also be on site. Busy Ronan organizes many activities

RONAN — Ronan Fairgrounds will host several all-day activities: a beer garden will open at 9 a.m.; chain-saw carving will go on all day from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; a saw mill demo takes place at 2 p.m. along with the Cheff Ranch Legacy Outfitters from 2-6 p.m.; another carving auction will take place at 7 p.m. to be followed by a 325 Street Dance beginning at 9 p.m.

Eat all the crab you can

RONAN — On Friday, June 21, the Ronan Area Chamber of Commerce will present “Crab Fest 2019,” which is a benefit for the Bockman (Ronan City) Park. The dinner begins at 5 p.m. and will take place at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $35 per person or two for $60 for the all-you-can-eat event. Purchase tickets at Ronan Flower Mill, Valley Banks, Ronan Napa, Glacier Bank, First Interstate Bank-Polson, Access Montana and Ronan Power Products. Enjoy fresh crab boiled on site. PEO rummage sale benefits scholarships

RONAN — The Lower Mission Valley Chapter of PEO will hold their annual rummage sale on June 21, on the west side of Ronan Glacier Bank, across from the city park. It will be open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Clothing, household goods, accessories, books, games and miscellaneous items will be available for sale. All proceeds from the sale will be used for PEO sponsored scholarships for women.

RONAN — Safe Harbor will present a “Circus and Carnival” on Saturday, June 22. Shows are at 2 and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children. The free-admission carnival will take place from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Game tickets will be 50 cents each.

RONAN — Crazy Days continues as local merchants put on spectacular sales on Saturday, June 22. VFW serves-up breakfast RONAN — Beginning at 7 a.m., the local VFW will serve breakfast. Watch amazing woodcarving RONAN — The Ronan Fairgrounds will host wood carving from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. including a saw mill demo at 2 p.m.; a carving seminar at 6 p.m.; a carving auction at 7 p.m. The evening ends with a luminary parade at dark and a 325 Bar street dance at 9 p.m.

RONAN — The Ronan Fairgrounds will host wood carving beginning at 9 a.m. ending with a big auction at 2:30 p.m. including a chainsaw raffle (must be present to win).
