Horsemen to meet

Quilt Guild prepares for annual show
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their next regular meeting on June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan. We will mainly work on the Quilt Show agenda. Our annual Quilt Show will be held Aug. 1-3 at the Ronan K. William Harvey Elementary gym. Don’t forget to bring items for the Country Store, your two little quilted white backs for ribbons, fat quarters for the raffle basket and of course “show and tell” items. Tickets will be available for the Raffle Quilt. Community members, here’s your chance to join our Guild; dues for the year are only $15. Entries in the Quilt Show for non-members are $5 per entry so joining the Quilt Guild makes great “cents.” Everyone is invited. Refreshment committee for June includes Colleen F., Deb T., and Char S.

Pastured poultry workshop held in Ronan
RONAN—Anne Baier, an organic program specialist with the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), will be keynote speaker at a workshop on pastured poultry June 5 at the Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center in Ronan.
The workshops, offered by NCAT, Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center, and Salish Kootenai College, with support of USDA Risk Management Agency, offers ideas on how to succeed in the increasingly popular pastured poultry market.
The workshop will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and will feature several speakers and a hands-on chicken processing demonstration.

Ham or vegetarian dinner, auction to benefit Linderman
RONAN — A benefit to defray Karen Linderman’s medical expenses is planned for Saturday, June 8, at the Ronan Community Center. Plan an evening of fun with family and friends. There will be a ham or vegetarian dinner served at 5:30 p.m. and an auction at 7 p.m.
Karen is a lifelong resident of the Mission Valley and former co-owner of the Vintage Rose. Her warm smile and baked goods always welcomed local folks and tourists alike.

Low-cost spay/neuter clinic offered
RONAN — The Lake County Spay/Neuter Task Force is sponsoring a low-cost spay/neuter clinic on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, at Glacier View Christian School in Ronan. The clinic is for dog and cat owners that have low to moderate or fixed income. Appointments are required. Beginning Sunday, May 19, pet owners can call (406) 270-1768 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to schedule an appointment.

Farmers’ market, entertainment, dinner on tap in Arlee
ARLEE — Jocko Valley Farmers’ Market is held each Wednesday through Sept. 25 from 4-7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hangin’ Art Gallery on Highway 93 in downtown Arlee. Purchase your produce for the week as well as some great baked-goods; value added foods, as well as arts and crafts. On June 12, the Irish music of Malarkey will provide entertainment and Arlee Pride Basketball will provide dinner.

RONAN — A free, one-day QuickBooks training workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, in Ronan at Lake County Community Development Corporation, 407 Main St.
Lunch is provided. Allison McCarthy, a Flathead Valley businesswoman with more than 25 years, is the instructor. Lake County Community Development sponsors the workshop and the Montana Department of Transportation DBE Program provides the lunch.
