‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Dance if you can, learn if you can’t

RONAN — There will be a community dance on the 22nd of March starting at 6 p.m. and going until 10 p.m.  It will be at the Terrace Lake Community Church on Terrace Lake Road. The Little Big Band will be performing all your favorite “big band” and “classic country” dance tunes. As always we have great refreshments and company. If you don’t dance, come and learn or just get out and unplug and visit your neighbors for a change. Hope to see you there.

5-on-5 tourney to benefit Ronan basketball

RONAN — The Ronan Event Center will host a 5-on-5 tournament for fifth and sixth-grade boys and girls and seventh and eighth-grade boys and girls. The event is scheduled for March 23 and there is a $150 entry fee. Proceeds will benefit the basketball program. RONAN —Palm Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m., will begin with a musical celebration. Maundy services will be Thursday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. and Good Friday services, on March 29, will be at 7:30 p.m. Easter services will be at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. March 31 with breakfast between services from 9-10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Concert series continues in Ronan

RONAN — Big Productions Concert series continues on Monday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. with The Makem and Spain Brothers. They will be performing at the Ronan Performing Arts Center with a variety of instruments and four male vocals, using precise three-part, perfectly blended harmonies. Many have described them as a Celtic wall of sound. Tickets are available at the door for $4.

19th annual Ronan Egg Hunt planned

RONAN — The 19th annual Ronan Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by Mission Mountain Enterprises, will take place on Saturday, March 30, at Ronan City Park. 

The event begins at 11 a.m. All children up to 12 years old can participate. Bring your cameras and take pictures with the Easter Bunny. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with the event, or would like to make a contribution, please call (406) 676-2727.

Quilters to socialize

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold it’s annual potato social on April 2 at 6 p.m. at the Terrace Lake Community Church on Terrace Lake Road. Guests are invited. If you have questions, contact Deleen Winters. Our meeting will start at 7 p.m.  Donita Reeves of Lakeside Quilting in Polson will be showing us how to piece quilt backing using a diagonal cutting method. The quilt show is in August. Be working on your challenge quilts, your theme quilts, the backing for the ribbons and things for the Country Store. Don’t forget the Toni Whitney class scheduled for March 23.
