‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Ninepipes Museum opens for 15th season

CHARLO – The Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana celebrates its 15th season and will open its doors for the 2013 season on April 4 at 10 a.m. The museum will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays through May 24. Starting Memorial Day Weekend and going through Labor Day, the museum will be open six days a week, Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The museum will offer new exhibits and experiences this season with board members and volunteers looking forward to seeing friends and neighbors as well as visitors from afar.

American Legion to meet

Mayor plans day of recognition

RONAN — The first ever “Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service” will be held on Tuesday, April 9. Ronan Mayor Kim Aipperspach will open the reception at the Ronan City Library at noon to recognize local national service volunteers in the Ronan area. Coffee and cake will be served. There are currently as many as 60 local volunteers serving our community through national service organizations that include: RSVP Volunteer Center, Foster Grandparents and AmeriCorps.

Museum needs sitters

RONAN — The Mission Valley Heritage will hold its annual meeting on April 10 at 2 p.m. at the Ronan Senior Center. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. It’s time to start thinking about the opening of the Garden of the Rockies Museum. We are in need of sitters at the museum. If we don’t have sitters, the museum won’t be able to open for the season. Dinner, dancing ticket sales benefit band tour

RONAN — The jazz band dinner dance will be held on April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Ronan High School Gym with an evening of dinner and dancing. A menu will be published soon. Tickets are on sale now at the Ronan Middle School office, (406) 676-3390 ext. 3400, St. Charo Floral, Coulter Automotive, and from members of the RHS Jazz Band.

The cost is $15.

All proceeds will go to offset the cost of the band tour to Salt Lake City and new band instruments.

RHS Jazz Band sets date for dinner, dance

RONAN — An evening of dinner and dancing will take place at Ronan High School’s Jazz Band dinner/dance on April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the RHS gym. The menu for the evening will be published soon.

Tickets are on sale for $15 at the RMS office (406) 676-3390 ext. 3400, St. Charo Floral, Coulter Automotive and from members of the RHS Jazz Band.

All proceeds will go toward offsetting the cost of the jazz band tour to Salt Lake City and for new band instruments also.

Grizz to scrimmage

RONAN —The University of Montana football Grizzlies will scrimmage on the Laverne Parish Memorial Field turf at Ronan High School on Saturday, April 13. The action begins at noon. Admission is $5 with children age 5 years and under admitted free. Following the scrimmage, the players and coaches and Monte will be available to sign autographs and take photos.

Pool tournament to raise funds for Safe Harbor

RONAN — On April 13, a Safe Harbor pool tournament will take place at the Club Bar. Games include eight ball, ball in hand, blind draw and double-elimination.
