‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Hunter education classes to begin

2/18/2015 - 2/23/2015

RONAN — Hunter Education Classes will be held at Westland Seed in Ronan from 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 18, 19, 20, and 23. The field course is held Saturday, Feb. 21. An additional class will be held for the area in March.

All hunter education classes are free of charge. By state law, anyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, must have completed the Hunter Education Course to buy a hunting license in Montana. To attend class and become certified, students must be at least 11 years old.

All students must register online at fwp.mt.gov, click “education,” for courses. When registering, students will note specific information and guidelines for the course included in the online posting.

RONAN — The Mission Valley Sub-network of businesswomen in Western Montana will meet on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lake County Community Development Building, 407 W Main Street. The speaker will be Dixie Hall, CFP, FIC, Financial Consultant fromThrivent Financial. Her topic of discussion will be “What Do We Need to Build a Strong Financial Life?” The lunch sponsor will be Whitney Cantlon, Lake County Job Service.

RONAN — Ronan High School Talent Show has been postponed until Feb. 23. Tickets are still available at the Community Bank, Valley Band and the Flower Mill. If you already purchased a ticket it is still good for Feb. 23. Proceeds go towards Honor Choir and Jazz Band Tour.

Celebrate, attend open house

RONAN — On Feb. 24 a special “Foster-a-Book Open House” will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Ronan Library. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Ronan Library, will serve refreshments and the books waiting to be fostered will be on display. There will also be other great books from Usborne Books available for purchase for personal use.

‘Shokoto’ to perform

RONAN — Big Productions will present “Shokoto” on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at Ronan Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. Children age 18 and younger are admitted free. A paying adult must accompany children under 12 years old. This show replaces the previously scheduled “CanadAfrica” show. RONAN —A pancake breakfast to benefit the Kenny Gainan family will be held at the Ronan VFW on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 8-11 a.m. All donations will go to Gainan family to help with expenses to get husband and father treatment for cancer. Back Country Horsemen to meet

RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will hold their monthly meeting on March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ronan VFW on Round Butte Road. The public is invited.

Tickets for our annual steak ride on May 3, at the Meuli Ranch in Dayton will be available at the March meeting also. So, come down and see what this great organization is all about.

Quilters to come together

RONAN — March 3 is the date for the Mission Mountain Quilt Guild’s next meeting, to be held at the Terrace Lake Community Church, in Ronan. Peg and Char will have a display of Pat Anderson’s quilting books set up for sale by 5:30 p.m. The regular meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a demo and show and tell. Please bring 4 fat quarters to donate for the quilt show fat-quarter basket. When you turn in your fat quarters, your name will be entered in a drawing. We will plan the April Potato Social at this meeting.
