‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Mardi Gras event to benefit Boys and Girls Club

POLSON — It’s time for the annual Mardi Gras party to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County. Save Feb. 9 for the party. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk Resort with a no-host social hour and then a Cajun steak and shrimp dinner with both a silent and live auction. Then enjoy dancing until midnight to Gladys Friday Band.

Lou and Irene Marchello will be passing on their crowns to the 2013 king and queen that win the most votes during the evening raffle. Purchase tickets from the Boys and Girls Club in Ronan, located next to Dairy Queen or phone (406) 676-5437 or from La Nita Fitzpatrick of Mountain West Bank in Polson at (406) 883-4111 or (406) 253-3130.  A reserved table for 10 is $500. Individual tickets are $50.

Blood drive coming to Ronan

RONAN — A blood drive for the American Red Cross will take place Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 1:30-5 p.m. in the cultural hall at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, corner of Franklin Street and 4th Ave., E., in Ronan. Lenten worship series begins

RONAN — St. Paul Lutheran Church welcomes all to our Lenten worship series entitled “Broken: Seven ‘Christian’ Rules that Every Christian Should Break.” We begin at 6 p.m. with a soup supper followed by the Lenten service at 7 p.m. The services are held each Wednesday from Feb. 13-March 20. Library cooks up stew, fry bread

RONAN — On Feb. 13, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Ronan City Library is having a stew and fry bread fundraising luncheon. Donations of $5 are appreciated. Money to go to the operating costs to keep the library open. Come and join us for lunch.

All irrigators invited to meeting

RONAN — Western Montana Water Users Association, LLC, invites all irrigators and other concerned parties in the Flathead Irrigation Project to a meeting with their attorney, Brian Shuck, on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m., in the Ronan High School Auditorium. Information will be presented that is vital for irrigators to have in order for them to make an informed decision about the proposed CSKT Water Rights Compact.

Relay for Life planning begins

RONAN — It is time to start thinking about Relay For Life. The event will take place July 12-13 at the Ronan High School Football Field.  The theme this year is “Making Hope Happen.” We are having a Virtual Kickoff this year, so get your teams signed up online at lakecountyrelay.org, between Feb. 18-25 and your team registration fee will be free. You can also check out our Facebook page: Relay For Life of Lake County Montana for meeting dates and news. 

There will also be a team experience event Feb. 23 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Missoula. (Location yet to be announced.) This is a great opportunity to learn what Relay for Life is, get fund-raising ideas, and have fun. Gather your team and join us for prizes and fun.
