‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. RONAN — Children and Families are invited to meet author and illustrator, Michelle Nelson-Schmidt on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 4-5:00 p.m. at the Ronan Library, 203 Main Street, SW. She is best known as a motivational speaker for kids and the author of “Bob is a Unicorn” and “Jonathan James and the What-if Monster.”

RONAN — On Thursday, Nov. 29, a dinner and silent auction fundraiser will be held at 5 p.m. along with the “Orange and Black Basketball” scrimmages at 6 p.m. in the Ronan Event Center in the Ronan Middle School. Donated items are needed for the auction and may be dropped off at the middle school by Tuesday, Nov. 27. Monies raised help pay for meals while traveling on away games and meets. Potluck party planned for quilters

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan. Setup for the potluck will be at 5:30 p.m., dinner and gift exchange will be at 6 p.m. The meeting and show-and-tell will follow. Please bring a wrapped gift valued between $5-$10 to the party. ‘Lights Under the Big Sky’ kicks off

RONAN — Lights Under the Big Sky will kick off this Friday night, Dec. 7. New fresh light displays will accompany familiar vignettes. Hot chocolate, food, kids’ crafts and games along with festive light displays will be on tap. The Christmas Market will open at 4 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Lights turn on at 5 p.m. in time for Santa and the elves to arrive at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $3 per person $15 for a family of six, children under 4 are free. For information find us on the web at: bigskylights.org or call 406-396-0807, or 406-644-2422.

Holiday concert planned

RONAN — The Dec. 7 “Dolce Canto Holiday Concert” performance for Mission Valley Live will take place at the Ronan Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Single tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door. As always, youth 18 and under may attend free. College students with identification can attend for $5. Four-ticket booklets are available for $45 and 7-ticket booklets are available for $75. Tickets may be purchased in Ronan at Ronan True Value and R&R Health Care Solution and in Polson at First Interstate Bank and Vine & Tap Bar.
