‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Low-cost spay/neuter clinic offered

RONAN — The Lake County spay/neuter task force is sponsoring a low-cost spay/neuter clinic on Saturday, Oct. 27, and Sunday, Oct. 28, at Glacier View Christian School in Ronan. The clinic is for dog and cat owners that have low to moderate or fixed incomes. 

Appointments are required. Beginning Sunday, Oct. 14, pet owners can call (406) 309-4874 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. to schedule an appointment.

RHS holds garden work day

RONAN — A garden work day/ make a difference day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 27 at Ronan High School. Volunteers are needed to continue work on the outdoor Peace Garden in preparation for winter. Please let us know if you plan to attend. Bring garden gloves and hand tools; snacks are provided. Come for the entire time or just an hour. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Tour a scary or not-so-scary haunted house

RONAN — On Saturday, Oct. 27, and again on Wednesday, Oct. 31, haunted house tours will be offered at the Ronan Telephone Warehouse across from the Ronan Event Center. The not-so-scary tour takes place between 5:30-6:30 p.m. The scary tour begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. Admission is $3 per tour and refreshments will be on sale at the gate. Zumba fundraising event to benefit Mission Valley Aquatics

RONAN — Party for the Pool Zumbathon will rock the Ronan Community Center, Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Come for energetic music, Zumba fitness dances you love, door prizes, silent auction items and yummy snacks, or come just to visit and tap your feet. The event features Deanar Young, a talented Zumba instructor and dance teacher from Spokane, plus other amazing instructors from our own valley. This is an opportunity to try the popular Latin-based dance fitness program and get information about the progress of the Mission Valley Aquatic Center.

'HalloRead' planned at Ronan City Library

RONAN — Come join us at the Ronan City Library for a HalloRead event. On Wednesday, Oct. 31, the library is having a very special combination author’s night and Halloween party for kids of all ages. The HalloRead party will run from 6-8 p.m. with the reading of a locally written book at 6:30 p.m. We will have games for the kids, plus some tricks and some treats. Spend Halloween at the library and everyone wear your favorite costume.

Quilt class, meeting held at Terrace Lake Church

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold its monthly meeting at noon, Nov. 3, during the Thread Painting Class at the Terrace Lake Community Church, east of Ronan. If you are interested in taking the class, contact Kay Krantz. There is a $10 fee and Kay has the supply list. Bring your own lunch. 

The BOM’s for November and December will be shown at the December meeting, which will be a potluck with a gift exchange. Everyone is welcome.

‘Mrs. Claus is Missing’ to be performed in Ronan

RONAN — The theatre season opens on Nov. 9-10 at the Ronan Performing Arts Center when the elementary students, grades kindergarten through second grade, present “Mrs. Claus is Missing.” Performances begin at 7 p.m. This is an enchanting musical all about the power of believing. Don’t miss Santa, the elves and others that are sure to delight audiences of all ages. General admission tickets will be available at the Ronan Flower Mill, (406) 676-5323, 106 Main S.W., or at the ticket booth the evenings of the plays. Ticket cost for all seats is $5.
