Wool design contest open to all ages
RONAN — The Make It With Wool district one contest will be held Nov. 11 at the Ronan High School Library beginning at noon.
District 1 includes the counties of Flathead, Granite, Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Missoula, Ravalli, Sanders, and Northern Powell.
The contest is open to pre-teens ages 12 and under, juniors ages 13-16, seniors ages 17-24, adults age 25 and older and sewing for others (any age). Ages should be as of Dec. 31, 2012.
Pre-teen, junior, senior, and adult contestants must select, construct and model their own garments. Garments made for other people must be modeled by the intended wearer.
The construction fabric or yarn must be 60-100 percent wool. The yarn may be mohair, cashmere, alpaca, camel, or llama.
The contest is open to quilts, afghans, wall hangings, table runners and 56-72-inch throws. An individual or group of any age may construct an item.

All invited to free ag forum
RONAN — A free agricultural forum put on by the Montana Land Reliance will be held at the Ronan Community Center Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 8 a.m. Speakers will address topics including future global economic opportunities; future local economic opportunities; GMOs; educational opportunities and future careers in agriculture; sustainable management of energy inputs; and farm land protection.
Following the program, a lunch featuring locally grown food will be served.

Cheerleader tryouts to begin
RONAN — Cheerleading tryouts for the winter are Nov. 13, 14 and 15 from 4-6 p.m. at the Ronan Event Center Commons.
Valley schools to participate in band festival
RONAN — On Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., the Mission Valley Band Festival will take place at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. Students from Bigfork, St. Ignatius, Ronan, Arlee, and Thompson Falls will participate.
This year’s director is David Barr of Glacier High School.
The concert is free and open to the public.

Public invited to celebrate museum’s success
CHARLO — It’s official: the “Save the Museum” campaign was successful, and the deed to the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana was signed over to the board of directors on Oct. 16. Board members wish to express their gratitude to the museum’s well-wishers and supporters with a day of thanks on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum will be open to the public at no cost and refreshments will be available. Come watch the board members “retire” the sign on the side of the building that showed the financial progress being made over the last two years as pledges and donations were received.
The museum’s winter hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday through Dec. 1. The museum will reopen the first Thursday in April 2013. Group tours are available upon request and can be scheduled by calling 644-3435.

Ronan to hold annual Thanksgiving dinner
RONAN — The ninth annual Ronan community Thanksgiving dinner will be Nov. 22 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Ronan Community Center. Dinner is free but volunteers are needed.

Entertainment is included with the traditional turkey dinner.
