‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Child Find held at KWH

RONAN/PABLO — Mark your calendars for Ronan/Pablo Elementary Schools’ fall Child Find event on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at K. Wm. Harvey Elementary School in the special needs preschool classroom from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This free screening is in conjunction with CSKT Early Childhood Services and CDC center. Children ages birth to 5.11 years old, who live in the Ronan/Pablo School District, will be screened. Appointments are on a first-come basis by calling Janet at 406-676-3390 ext. 7450.

Two versions of haunted house offered

RONAN —Thespian Troupe 8746 proudly announces their haunted house fundraiser on Oct. 25 and 26 at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. Entrance will be at the side door by the playground (there will be signs). From 5-6:45 p.m. there will be a “lights on” version of the haunted house, without jump scares. From 7-10 p.m. there will be the scarier “lights off” version of the haunted house. Prices are $3 per person for the “lights on” version and $4 per person for the and “lights off” version. Proceeds go to help our thespian acting troupe travel and compete at the Montana Thespian Festival in February.

RONAN — The Mission Valley Senior Citizens will hold their annual fall/ winter bazaar and bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The center is located at 528 Main St. SW. Lunch will be available for $5 per person. Please come and support the center and local small businesses.

BIGFORK — The Bigfork Farmers’ Market Cooperative will take place each Wednesday until October 9. The market takes place between 3-6 p.m. on the lawn at The Bigfork VFW, 8098 Highway 35. Ronan Farmers Market through September 26

RONAN — The 2019 Ronan Farmers Market will open on Thursday, May 16, at the Ronan Visitors’ Center. POLSON — Starting on Friday, May 3, Polson Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Friday, rain or shine. The market is located at Third Ave. W. and will have homegrown produce and plants, coffee, jewelry, soaps, popsicles, baked goods, meats, eggs, cheese, preserved foods, fabric, photographic and handmade art, beauty products, wood working and much, much more. Horsemen celebrate with potluck

Quilters gather, invite all

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan at 6:30 p.m. We start our “block of the month” at this meeting and it should be fun. Our next class is on Saturday, Oct. 12, and will be taught by Susan Brown. Refreshments will be provided by the Thursday Quilters. Be sure and bring your show-and-tell. Everyone is welcome; it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an advanced quilter or just think you might like to learn to quilt. It’s a great place to learn or just have some fun “you” time. We hope to see you there.
