Boys and Girls club to sponsor “Mud Run” fun

Cherries take over Polson
POLSON — The annual “Polson Main Street Flathead Cherry Festival” is on July 20-21, with fun for the whole family. There will be over 125 vendors; Flathead cherries; homemade cherry pies; unique arts and crafts; cherry pie-eating, stem-tying, and pit-spitting contests; entertainment; sidewalk sales and specials. Join in on Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be a street dance Saturday night featuring Southern Comfort. For vendor space, call (406) 686-1155. Self-service doggy wash to benefit animal shelter
POLSON — The second annual Mission Valley Animal Shelter will conduct a $5 self-service Doggy Wash to raise funds for the shelter on Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of First Interstate Bank in Polson. Larger voluntary donations are always accepted. Anderson Broadcasting is sponsoring the Doggy Wash. Bring your dog and your camera and shelter personnel will provide tubs, hoses, water, shampoo, towels and brushes. Discounted micro-chipping will be offered. Try out crafts at ‘Live History Days’
POLSON — The Miracle of America Museum will host their annual “Live History Days” celebration July 20 -21. Many new displays have been added, including kid-friendly interactive displays. There will be three trains, a tank, army rigs and other vehicle rides, even a pump railroad velocipede, an operating sawmill, and schoolhouse activities. Munch a lunch in the afternoon while you relax and enjoy Montana old time fiddlers, accordionists, banjo pickers and more. On Saturday there is a black-powder shooting demonstration planned. These events are held rain or shine and the main building is air-conditioned. Admission is $5 for all people 3 years of age and older, and includes admission on all rides. Food is charged for. Teams to demonstrate dragon boat sport
POLSON — On Sunday, July 21, at noon, one of the fastest growing sports, dragon boat racing, will be demonstrated at Riverside Park. Drinkers of the Lake, a Polson team, Kalispell’s Flathead Dragonflies and teams from Missoula will use two boats in a relay fashion to demonstrate rowing and oaring. Just one of the many activities planned during Polson’s Cherry Festival.

Basketball played on Main Street
POLSON — The 21st annual Flathead Lake “3-on-3 basketball tournament” is on Main Street in Polson on July 26, 27 and 28 with 300 teams participating. All proceeds are donated back to the community, including $1,000 to chamber beautification.

Children to audition at Boettcher Park
POLSON — Auditions will be held for Glacier Lily Theatre Company’s Children’s production of Robin Hood. Anyone going into grades two to 12 is welcome to audition at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 28, at Boettcher Park in Polson. Actors in fourth-12 grades are asked to prepare a thirty-second monologue. The first rehearsal is July 29 at 1 p.m. All actors are required to attend and regular rehearsals will be held until the performances. There will be three performances: the first on the evening of Aug. 23, and two on Aug. 24, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. POLSON — On Wednesday, July 31, at 6 p.m., the Flathead Reservation Fish and Wildlife Board will meet at the Polson City Library. The agenda includes discussion of Pheasant and Hungarian Partridge seasons, waterfowl regulations, and State projects and accomplishments. Shelter offers special adoption price through Aug. 3
POLSON — Mission Valley Animal Shelter is offering a special for one week for cats and kittens beginning Tuesday, July 30, until Saturday, Aug. 3. You can receive 35 percent off adoption fees; adult cats are $35 and kittens (6 months and younger) are $45. The fee includes spay or neuter, vaccinations and rabies for adult cats.
