POLSON –– The Sandpiper Gallery presents the “Earth Beneath Us” with Sandpiper member artists Judith Colvin (textiles), Ron Hoff (photography), Karen Maurer (paintings), Sherry Jones (jewelry), Jean Stromnes (multimedia), and Nancy Zadra (watercolor nude series) present their work, along with invited photographer Michael Coles, July 13-Aug. 22.

POLSON –– Polson Bay’s Water Daze is a one-mile swim race through the pristine waters of Flathead Lake at Salish Point to Boettcher Park. This great family event has activities for everyone: a beautiful 1.3-mile open water swim race will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Boettcher Park with registration at 11 a.m. and start time at 1 p.m. Swimmers will be transported to the KwaTaqNuk from Boettcher Part for the start of the race. POLSON — Back by popular demand is Port Polson Players’ “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Dramatic Society Murder Mystery.” This hilarious British comedy will continue for three weeks, Aug. 13-30. POLSON — The Seventh Annual Smokin’ On The Water promises a day of great barbecue and family fun on the shores of Flathead Lake.  The Saturday, August 1, event at the KwaTaqNuk Resort begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. The event features competition to create “The Best” barbecued chicken, beef, pork or barbecue sauce. Trophies and prizes will be awarded for those categories plus an Open category. Cooking teams are encouraged to provide samples to attendees who will then vote for the grand prize People’s Choice Award and the $500 cash prize that goes with it.There will also be a hot dog eating contest, wine tasting, a local brew tour, carnival-style games for kids, rock climbing, and a trampoline game. POLSON – Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is offering discounted sports physicals for school athletes on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 3:30-6 p.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center for any Polson athletes for only $30 cash or check. No credit cards or insurance accepted. All proceeds are donated back to the Polson athletics program.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library weekly activities are on Thursday at 10 a.m. for school-age children. Thursday, Aug. 6, is “Bug Day.”

POLSON –– Join us for the annual Summerfest on Flathead Lake on Friday, Aug. 7; Saturday, Aug. 8; and Sunday, Aug. 9. There will be three fun-filled days of numerous activities in the park and on the water on Friday. 

On Saturday there will be a car show downtown and the Sandpiper Art Festival will be on the courthouse lawn. There will also be a poker run, a parade, a cruise, and a concert at Riverside Park and more on Saturday.

POLSON — The 44th annual Outdoor Art Festival takes place on the Lake County Courthouse lawn on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sandpiper Art Gallery is the sponsor of this event. There will be fine art originals in all media, jewelry, handmade furniture, birdhouses, hand-sewn items, stained glass, rose mauling, pottery, candles and sculpture and many other interesting and unique items.

POLSON — Polson’s local skaters invite all ages to the annual Skate Jam gathering at the Polson Skatepark on Saturday, Aug. 8, with free skating beginning at noon. Activities will include skills competitions, games of S.K.A.T.E., prizes and snacks.

POLSON — The Polson School District will have a special board meeting at 4 pm. on Aug. 10 at the district office, 111 Fourth Ave. E. There will be a regular board meeting at 5:30 p.m. that same day and place.

POLSON — The Wednesday, Aug. 12, dance will honor Don Pederson from Round Butte. It is waltz night, and he was the king of that dance. Don died a year or so ago, and he is missed. He danced with all the women, was a perfect gentleman, and told very funny stories. Please come out to the Elks at 7 p.m. and join all of Don’s friends. Bring a treat to share if you would like.

POLSON — The Polson Farmers Market would like to invite you to a free jam-making class from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Classes are for qualified SNAP recipients only. Upon completion of the class a $20 certificate will be given to purchase local produce. Classes include children’s activities … so bring the kids.
