Final bow hunter class offered
POLSON — The last Bow Hunter Education class for 2013 in Lake County is scheduled for Friday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 13, at 8:30 sharp. Both sessions are at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 409 Fourth Ave. Students must attend both sessions and pass the written test. There is no cost for the class. Friendship dinner served
POLSON — There will be a free dinner served at Polson Presbyterian Church on July 12 from 5-7 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Everyone is invited to this free “Friendship Table Dinner.”

Public invited to peace workshop
POLSON — The Lake County Greens and peace groups across Montana invite the public to a workshop featuring Rev. Sam Smith, chair of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, on the militarization of American youth and the “I Will Not Kill” campaign, on Sunday, July 14, at Sacajawea Park. P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women by providing educational scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College.

Cherries take over Polson
POLSON — The annual “Polson Main Street Flathead Cherry Festival” is on July 20-21, with fun for the whole family. There will be over 125 vendors; Flathead cherries; homemade cherry pies; unique arts and crafts; cherry pie-eating, stem-tying, and pit-spitting contests; entertainment; sidewalk sales and specials. Self-service doggy wash to benefit animal shelter
POLSON — The second annual Mission Valley Animal Shelter will conduct a $5 self-service Doggy Wash to raise funds for the shelter on Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of First Interstate Bank in Polson. Larger voluntary donations are always accepted. Anderson Broadcasting is sponsoring the Doggy Wash. Bring your dog and your camera and shelter personnel will provide tubs, hoses, water, shampoo, towels and brushes. Discounted micro-chipping will be offered. Try out crafts at ‘Live History Days’
POLSON — The Miracle of America Museum will host their annual “Live History Days” celebration July 20 -21. Many new displays have been added, including kid-friendly interactive displays. There will be three trains, a tank, army rigs and other vehicle rides, even a pump railroad velocipede, an operating sawmill, and schoolhouse activities. Munch a lunch in the afternoon while you relax and enjoy Montana old time fiddlers, accordionists, banjo pickers and more. On Saturday there is a black-powder shooting demonstration planned. These events are held rain or shine and the main building is air-conditioned. Admission is $5 for all people 3 years of age and older, and includes admission on all rides. Food is charged for. Teams to demonstrate dragon boat sport
POLSON — On Sunday, July 21, at noon, one of the fastest growing sports, dragon boat racing, will be demonstrated at Riverside Park. Drinkers of the Lake, a Polson team, Kalispell’s Flathead Dragonflies and teams from Missoula will use two boats in a relay fashion to demonstrate rowing and oaring. Just one of the many activities planned during Polson’s Cherry Festival.
