‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. POLSON — A members only open show entitled “Magic Moment,” featuring Sandpiper Art Gallery member artists past and present will be exhibited from June 17-July 26. All submissions will be accepted in the artist’s interpretation of the theme. This is member magic at its best. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Full summer agenda planned for Polson club through Aug. 6

POLSON — The Boys and Girls Club of Lake County and Flathead Reservation in Polson will operate a summer program Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. from June 17-Aug. 16 (closed July 4). The cost is $10 per week or $75 for the full summer. The summer session is nine weeks of fun - opportunities, discoeries, learning, and activities galore. Summer reading program, book fair on tap at library

POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library’s summer reading program, “A Universe of Stories,” begins registration at 10 a.m. They will make full use of their ongoing NASA @My Library grant resources to provide high-quality programming. This program is open to readers of all ages; register online at: www.northlakecountylibrary.org or at the library. Also on this date, the Usborne New Book Fair will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Books for infants to young adults are among the selections available. There will be no Makerspace program held on this day.

Space activities included in library program

6/20/2019

POLSON — Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. from June 20-Aug. 8, the North Lake County Library will have space-centered children’s programming. Crafts and activities will be included with each presentation. Martin Horejsi, Associate Professor of Instructional Technology and Science Education, Solar System Ambassador for NASA, and longtime meteorite hound, will run a youth-oriented program on the Moon, Mars and Meteorites on Thursday, June 20. This presentation will be followed by a hands-on activity suitable for school-aged kids. Martin Horejsi will follow up the youth program with a second program for adults: “Meteorites: An Inconvenient Science” at 1 p.m.

Montecahto rummage sale scheduled

POLSON — The Montecahto Club will hold its rummage and bake sale at the Finley Point Fire Station on Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. On Saturday, the sale will be in conjunction with the Finley Point Fire Department’s fundraiser. The fire station is across from the Finley Point Grill on Highway 35. The sale supports the club’s ongoing service projects, which include several annual scholarships for local students. NRA Rodeo returns

POLSON — The Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo takes place at the Polson Fairgrounds, 320 Regatta Road, June 28 and 29. Youth events including Mutton Bustin’ and Mini Bull Riding begin at 6:30 p.m. and the NRA Rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. Events include: bareback, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, team roping, tie down roping, ladies and youth barrel racing, ladies and youth breakaway roping and bull riding. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and are available at the gate, (no pre-sale tickets). Food, beverage and a beer garden concessions will be available. There will be live music after Friday night’s performance. There is a free vendors fair but no food items. For general rodeo information call 406-883-1100.

Polson Chamber hosts annual ‘Chamber Blast’

POLSON — Join us on Friday, June 28, for the eighth annual Chamber Blast hosted at the world-class Big Sky Sporting Clays in Polson. Team registration includes shells, door prizes, lunch and an awards ceremony. Bring a shotgun, eye protection and ear protection – no experience is necessary. Profits from this event go to support the Polson Chamber’s fundraising efforts, including the 4th of July fireworks show, hanging flower baskets and more. Registration is from 11 a.m.-noon, a shooter safety briefing takes place from 11:20—11:30 a.m. and the tournament takes place from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. with a lunch and awards ceremony from 3-3:30 p.m. Station sponsorship (banner displayed at event and recognition at awards ceremony) is $150.
