All invited to discuss rural Montana’s future
POLSON — The Center for Rural Affairs invites Polson and area residents to join a meeting on Wednesday, June 11, at the North Lake County Library in Polson in the meeting room from 5-7 p.m. The meeting is about agriculture, adaptation, and rural Montana’s future and will include a community discussion featuring farmers, ranchers, scientists, and the faith community. Come join us for a two-hour meeting at the Polson library. There will be no charge and everyone is welcome.
Dance to Heart to Heart again
POLSON — June 11 marks the return of Heart to Heart. Welcome back. We dance from 7-10 p.m. As always, treats are welcome. Come to the Elks Lodge to dance, and bring fathers and celebrate Father's Day. Also bring your mates, friends, and significant others as well.
Fire trustees to meet
POLSON — The Polson Rural Fire District trustee monthly meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station.

Audubon speaker to discuss National Park in Chile
POLSON — “Pumas, Guanacos, and Patagonia National Park” by Jim Williams will be the next evening program of the Mission Mountain Audubon Society on Thursday, June 12, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Jim was sponsored by Patagonia Inc. to travel to the southern end of the world as a conservation ambassador. He has been involved with puma research, management, and conservation for more than 20 years.
Everyone is welcome.
Marine Lewis to speak about flags, walk across America
POLSON — Flag Day will be celebrated a couple of days early at the second Thursday evening program at the Miracle of America Museum, on June 12 at 6:30 pm. The program will cover the history of our American Flag and flag etiquette presented by Marine Sgt. Chuck Lewis. Lewis will also discuss his walk across America for wounded veterans. Library trustee candidate submissions due
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library District is seeking applicants for an opening on its Board of Trustees. Residency within the district’s boundaries (the same boundaries as Polson High School District #23) and a desire to serve are required for this volunteer position. The successful candidate will complete the term of a retiring trustee and will be eligible to run for office in the spring of 2015. Deadline for application submission is June 13.

DePoe to speak at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — Robert DePoe, president of Salish Kootenai College, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, June 13, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. The meeting begins at noon and adjourns at l p.m. It is held in the Polson Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds.
Presbyterian Church to serve free dinner
POLSON — The June Friendship Table Dinner is coming up on June 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the Polson Presbyterian Church located across from Linderman School. Come join us for a free dinner that is open to all.

POLSON — June 14 is the date for the next dance at the Elks. Ken’s Country Combo will play all their wonderful tunes. There are lots of good cooks out there and we enjoy the awesome treats they provide. We dance from 7-10 p.m. We will see you there.
Public invited to Flag Retirement Ceremony
POLSON — On Saturday, June 14, at 4 p.m. on Flag Day, the Veterans' Organizations, Marine Corps League Hellroaring Detachment, American Legion Hardwick Post and the VFW Fullerton Post of Polson wish to give an invitation to the public to attend the Flag Retirement Ceremony. The Organizations will retire used and soiled US flags at the Lakeview Cemetery. Anyone that has a flag that needs to be retired may do so by bringing it to the service, you may drop them off at the VFW or contact John Miller at (406) 890-0964 or Jack Mitchell at (406) 883-1561.
Young Eagles to fly in Polson
POLSON — EAA chapter 1122 will be flying Young Eagles at the Polson airport on Saturday, June 14, from 9-11 a.m. for International Young Eagles Day. All children between the ages of 8 and 17, with their parents’ approval, can get a ride in an airplane free of charge. DAR to sponsor Miracle of America program
POLSON — The Kuilix chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will sponsor a program at Miracle of America Museum on Highway 93 in Polson at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17. Director Gil Mangels will talk about the American Revolutionary memorabilia displays in the museum and also demonstrate early firearms used in the War of Independence. Fair helps prevent children's injuries
The Lake County Public Health Department invites parents of young children to attend its annual Injury Prevention Fair on Friday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the parking lot at 802 Main Street in Polson.
Lunch will be provided, as well as children’s activities, prizes and information on water safety, safe sleep, car seat and bike safety, and much more. There will be information about lead poisoning and screening, and vouchers will be provided for those who want to come back and get their child’s lead levels tested.

Register for Polson Chamber's sporting clays tournament
POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Chamber Blast” will be held on Saturday, June 28, at Big Sky Sporting Clays. We will start with a quick beginner’s shooting clinic, followed by a shooter’s safety briefing prior to the Sporting Clays Tournament. A barbecue lunch and awards ceremony will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The cost is $110 per shooter or $330 per three-person team. Bring your shotgun, eye protection, and ear protection. Heavenly Harp concert to include music, stories
POLSON — The mother-daughter duo known as “Heavenly Harp” will present a concert at Good Shepherd Church on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m., as part of their summer tour.
Music grads of Concordia and St. Olaf Colleges, Karin and Joy Gunderson will be joined by other family members in presenting beautiful harp, vocal, piano and flute music, and amazing “heavenly” stories.
The concert is offered at no cost, but a free-will offering opportunity will be available to help support the duo. CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase.
During the concert, musician and author Karin Gunderson will share stories from her new book Encounters with Heaven. Her stories are true accounts of those who have experienced God’s presence in miraculous ways. The stories are woven together with beautiful harp, vocal and flute arrangements of favorite Christian hymns and songs, light classical music and congregational singing.
