Join advanced studies students
POLSON — The students in Polson’s Gifted Program’s advanced studies classes (grades 6, 7/8 and 9-12) invite you to an evening of displays and presentations. Come any time between 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013. This event will take place in the library at Polson High School. The students developed their own semester-long or yearlong project or course of study and would like to share with you all that they learned about the following topics: ski building, graphic design, music composition, sociology, fiction writing, graphic novels, Italian language, French language, Latin language, Web page design, architecture, computer animation, life guarding, robotics, computer programming, choreography, didgeridoo, veterinary science and many more.

Benefit planned for Debbie Basler
POLSON — A benefit spaghetti feed and silent auction will be held for Debbie Basler at the Polson Elks Lodge on Thursday, June 6, from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 for a family and they may be purchased at Port Polson Inn, Total Screen Design or at the door.
Debbie has been diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, which has attacked every part of her body. Due to this debilitating disease, Debbie has been forced to leave her job and is on the verge of losing her home. She has no medical insurance and is finding it hard to qualify for financial assistance.

Carnival to provide games, music and entertainment
POLSON — A carnival sponsored by Polson Walmart and Nancy’s Kids will take place on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Polson Fairgrounds. From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. there will be games galore including: horse rides, a dunking booth, a jump house, train rides and more. There will also be hot dogs, chips and drinks to purchase from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. From 4-7 p.m. there will be a barbecue meal sold (hamburger, salad and baked beans), $8 per adult and $5 per child. Youngsters offered free airplane flights
POLSON — The Lake County Chapter 1122 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host Young Eagles Flights at Polson Airport on Saturday morning, June 8, starting at 9 a.m.
All kids between the ages of eight and 17, with their parent’s approval, can get a ride in an airplane free of charge.
A breakfast of pancakes, ham and eggs will be available from 8-11 a.m. All activities are on a “weather permitting” basis.

POLSON — Mark your calendars for “Rockin’ to the Rhythm of Service” Montana Superhost Customer Service training on Monday, June 10, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. Montana has an outstanding reputation for friendly people and is fortunate to have a comprehensive customer service-training program in place where professionals provide customer service training throughout Montana. The Polson Chamber will be teaming up with area businesses to host the Polson Tourism Expo from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. following Superhost training. Free vendor spaces are available. Citizens invited to discuss possible ice rink
POLSON — Are you interested in ice hockey, figure skating, curling, roller-skating, or roller derby? If so, you are invited to attend an organizational meeting to discuss the viability of an outdoor refrigerated ice rink to serve all of Lake County and the Flathead Indian Reservation. The meeting will take place at City Hall in Polson on Monday, June 10, at 7 p.m. If there appears to be enough community interest and support, we will form a committee and move forward with this project. Jette Water to hold special meeting
POLSON — The Jette Meadows/Lake County Water and Sewer District will meet Monday, June 10, at 5:30 p.m. at 2755 Meadow Rd. in Jette Meadows. This meeting is to discuss and plan for a replacement for the current clerk/secretary/billing manager, who announced her resignation that is effective July 1. The residence is on the south side of Meadow Road and is a milk chocolate log home with a breezeway and garage.

The meeting place was changed because of the unavailability of the North County Library meeting room. All district meetings are open to the public and Jette Meadows residences are especially encouraged to attend.

POLSON — There will be a Polson School Board meeting on Monday, June 10, at the district office, 111 Fourth Ave., E. at 5:30 p.m.

Envision Polson meets at library
POLSON — Everyone is invited to attend the Envision Polson meeting on Tuesday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Polson Heart and Soul office located in the northeast corner of the Lake County Public Library. The June meeting of Envision Polson will feature an update by local businessperson Heather Knutson on the Polson Business Growth Action Plan.

Fire district trustees to elect new secretary
POLSON — Polson Rural Fire District trustee monthly meeting Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at 7 p.m. fairgrounds station. This meeting includes the election of new secretary.
All residents of the Polson Rural Fire District and interested general public are encouraged to attend. Any member of the public wishing to submit items for board review/consideration needs to submit them to the board clerk at least 10 days in advance of the meeting. Flathead Basin Commission Meeting
POLSON — Members of the Flathead Basin Commission (FBC) will hold a meeting on Wednesday, June 12, at the Flathead Lake Biological Station, Polson.
The morning session, from 9-10 a.m., will focus on FBC business, administration and updates on programmatic work. The afternoon session will focus strategic and long range planning.
The FBC was established by the Montana Legislature in 1983 to “monitor and protect” the water quality of the Flathead River drainage system. All FBC meetings are open to the public.

New Life kicks off 2013 Kids’ Zone
POLSON —New Life Christian Center will be kicking off Kids’ Zone for boys and girls ages 3 to sixth grade on Wednesday, June 12, with registration from 9 a.m.-9:30 a.m., and activities running from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Kids’ Zone is a totally free program offered to children in Polson and surrounding communities that provides a safe and fun environment for kids to have a great time and learn about God. Masumola Club to highlight art, talent show
POLSON — The Masumola Club meeting will be held Thursday, June 13, at the clubhouse. The social gathering begins at 5:45 p.m., the barbecue is at 6:30 p.m. and the program is at 7 p.m. The program will highlight the Masumola Club Art and Talent Show.
The clubhouse is located on Masumola Road. Anyone in the community of Polson and the surrounding area is invited to attend this meeting as a guest or to join the club and enjoy friendship, meetings and interesting programs. Pachyderm Club to hear about Flathead Lake
POLSON — Heidi Sedivy, Education Director for Flathead Lakers, will provide an overview of Flathead Lakers activities and will discuss their assessment of the current status of the lake when she speaks at the Friday, June 14 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club.
Greg McCormick, president of the Flathead Lakers will also attend the meeting and will be available to answer questions.
The meeting will be held at the Polson Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road west of Polson. It begins with a social time at 11:30 a.m. followed by the business meeting at noon. The meeting adjourns at 1 p.m.
Anyone interested in learning more about the condition and/or threats to the purity of Flathead Lake is invited to attend.
Port Polson Players present two one-act comedies
POLSON — The Port Polson Players, in association with the Mission Valley Friends of the Arts, present Mark Twain’s “The Diary of Adam and Eve” with companion piece “When God Comes to Breakfast Your Don’t Burn the Toast.” To kick off the Players 38th summer theatre season, these two, one-act comedies, will feature $10 tickets. Performances will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 14, 15, and 16, at the John Dowdall Theatre on the Lake next to Boettcher Park. The Friday and Saturday curtain time is 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.

Presbyterians serve free bratwurst dinner
POLSON — A free dinner is being served at Polson Presbyterian Church on June 14 from 5-7 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. The June Friendship Table Dinner will include grilled bratwurst and trimmings. This dinner is free and open to all.
